One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at in China! We honestly didn’t expect to be this impressed. From the moment we arrived, everything was absolutely perfect. The hotel itself is incredibly beautiful and atmospheric. Every corner is thoughtfully designed, making it feel like you’re staying in a boutique museum rather than a hotel. The entire property is incredibly aesthetic, and every part of it is a perfect spot for beautiful photos. We stayed in a stunning two-level room, which completely exceeded our expectations. It was spacious, stylish, exceptionally comfortable, and spotlessly clean. Every little detail had been carefully considered. The location couldn’t be better—right in the heart of Datong Ancient Town. We could walk everywhere, with all the main attractions, restaurants, and beautiful streets just a few minutes away. The staff were some of the friendliest we’ve ever met. Everyone was genuinely welcoming, kind, and always happy to help, making us feel at home from the very first moment. Breakfast was also excellent. Instead of a buffet, a freshly prepared traditional Chinese breakfast was served each morning. It was delicious, beautifully presented, and the perfect start to the day. One of the nicest surprises was that guests can borrow traditional Chinese costumes free of charge for a photo shoot around the hotel. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough free time to try it ourselves, but it’s such a wonderful idea and gives us another reason to come back. We travel a lot and have stayed in countless hotels around the world, so it’s actually very difficult to surprise us. But this hotel genuinely did. If it were possible to give 100 stars instead of 5, we absolutely would. Even if we really wanted to find something to complain about, we honestly couldn’t. Everything was simply perfect. Without any doubt, this is one of the best hotel experiences we’ve ever had. If we ever return to Datong, we won’t even consider staying anywhere else. We will definitely come back. Highly, highly recommended!

The staff were always kind and attentive, and — something far from common in China, even in luxury hotels — everyone spoke excellent English. We truly felt pampered, with countless thoughtful touches and lovely little gifts that made us feel sincerely cared for. The rooms were quiet, comfortable, and elegantly furnished in harmony with the historic setting. We also really enjoyed dinner: traditional local dishes, well-prepared and beautifully served. Breakfast, served à la carte, was equally enjoyable. The shared spaces — especially the inner courtyard and the restaurant — create a sense of calm and charm that perfectly mirrors the magic of Pingyao. Staying at Jiuhuli·Siheyuan Guesthouse (Ancient City Drum Tower Branch) 玖合里·四合院民宿（大同古城华严寺店） was truly one of the highlights of our trip. The location is absolutely unique — being inside the ancient city walls of Datong and staying in a traditional Chinese courtyard house made the entire experience feel authentic and unforgettable. It is much more than just a hotel; it is a cultural experience. The decoration and design are impeccable: elegant, refined, and beautifully done with incredible attention to detail. The rooms are extremely comfortable, with high-quality products, premium facilities, and a very peaceful atmosphere that made us feel at home immediately. What made our stay even more exceptional was the outstanding service. The staff went above and beyond in every possible way. They helped us arrange an excellent private driver at a very reasonable price, which allowed us to enjoy a perfectly smooth and efficient day visiting three major attractions outside the city: the Hanging Temple, the Yungang Grottoes, and the Yingxian Wooden Pagoda. Everything was organized flawlessly, making the trip completely stress-free and enjoyable. Overall, the service was simply amazing from beginning to end. Nice and spacious hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The room was as described and quite large. Very clean and fresh looking with a nice big shower. The breakfast was great too with many choices: from noodle soup and add ons to bread, fresh fruit, yoghurt and cake. Not to mention it is just across the main street leading to the ancient city. I can honestly recommend this hotel!
