리리뷰어My wife and I visited Catalina Island for our 28th anniversary — our first time back since before we were married in 1997. We chose the Catalina Canyon Inn specifically for the pool, jacuzzi, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. Their website is very nice and seemed like a perfect match for the occasion. Unfortunately, very little matched what was advertised.
Shuttle: The shuttle was not waiting at the Catalina Express port when we arrived on the last ferry Saturday evening which was unexpected. Four of us were left waiting in the dark for about 20 minutes until the other couple called the hotel. The driver was friendly and apologized, but this set the tone for the weekend. The shuttle was consistently unreliable throughout our stay. They tell you to call the driver directly, but he often didn't answer. You'd end up having to call the hotel instead, and the shuttle only seemed to come after someone went inside and told the front desk in person. At one point we waited 45 minutes. Some guests got frustrated and just decided to walk, but the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill — not a realistic option, especially for older guests like us. Their website suggests the shuttle runs regularly, but that was far from our experience.
Restaurant: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM Saturday and were turned away, even though their website says they're open until 8:00 PM. We had to rush down the hill to find dinner to-go in town before the shuttle stopped running at 8:45. It was a shame we didn't even have time to stay and eat on our anniversary or face having to trek up that hill. The next morning I mentioned this to the restaurant owner, who insisted they closed at 8:00 and that she was there. She then told us the restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays — so dinner there that night wasn't an option either. She was very friendly though I must say. On Monday we finally had breakfast before checkout. The food was mediocre and didn't match the glowing reviews at all. The prices were also odd — $12 for mozzarella sticks, $20 for nachos, but only $11 for pulled pork sliders, which you'd expect to be the pricier item. The pricing just didn't add up. While we were there, another couple was turned away at 1:30 PM because the restaurant closes from 2–4 on Mondays. We could feel their frustration.
Jacuzzi: The jacuzzi we were looking forward to was covered up and converted into a gazebo with chairs. At first we couldn't find it but yea. No mention of this on the website.
Room issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The front desk told us we can mention it to housekeeping, who didn't come until after 5:00 PM. We got the soap and a couple fresh towels. The towels themselves were thin and didn't dry well overnight so fresh ones were sorely needed to get at least one shower in with soap before we had to leave the next day. The TV didn't work at all, and the microwave was unplugged — though I was able to fix that myself. The hotel also doesn't offer complimentary coffee, which is standard at most hotels we've stayed at for half the price.
The good: The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the balcony was a nice touch. The room was quiet.
Bottom line: The website gives a very different impression than what you actually get. Between the unreliable shuttle, limited and unpredictable restaurant hours, missing amenities, thin towels, and no coffee, this was not the anniversary experience we hoped for. I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to downtown so you're not dependent on a shuttle and stuck with limited options. I think we need to redo our anniversary. It was a miss for sure.

리리뷰어방 크기는 적당하고 침대도 컸어요. 고속도로 옆이라 약간 소음이 있었지만, 호텔은 좀 오래됐어도 위생 상태는 좋았어요. 중간에 하루는 방에 정전이 있었는데, 호텔에서 당일 바로 다른 방으로 바꿔줘서 서비스도 만족스러웠습니다.

리리뷰어셔틀 버스는 매 30분에 옵니다. 1층 리셉션과 조식 구역은 깨끗하게 리노베이션되어 있습니다. 안뜰의 수영장도 작으면서 분위기는 좋은 느낌입니다만, 엘리베이터는 낡고 엘리베이터로부터 방 통로에는 3단의 계단이 있어 방이 좁고, 가방은 펼쳐지지 않습니다. 모텔을 개조한 느낌의 건물, 베란다는 엉망. 도로 반대편에는 IN-N-OUT 버거, 슈퍼마켓, 스터버가 있어 편리합니다.

리리뷰어프런트 직원분이 정말 친절하셨고, 방은 깨끗하고 넓어서 좋았어요. 헤어드라이어는 방에 없었고, 칫솔, 치약, 슬리퍼 같은 건 미국 호텔에 보통 없잖아요. 헤어드라이어는 프런트에 요청하면 빌려준다고 들었는데, 저는 개인적으로 가져갔어요. 방 근처에 바가 있어서 토요일 밤에는 좀 시끄러웠지만, 창문을 닫으니 괜찮아졌어요. 아주 가까운 곳에 주차장이 있었는데, 저희는 차가 없어서 주차하기 편한지는 잘 모르겠네요. 할리우드 명예의 거리가 매우 가까워서 몇 걸음만 가면 되고, 돌비 극장과 TCL 극장도 걸어갈 수 있는 거리에 있어요. 그곳에 지하철역도 있고요. 근처에 노숙인분들이 계시긴 했지만, 밤 10시쯤이나 아침 9시쯤에 나가봤는데 아무 문제 없었어요. 다만 산타모니카와 게티 센터에서는 꽤 멀어요. 전반적으로 호텔 가성비가 정말 좋다고 생각하고, 무료 짐 보관 서비스도 있었고, 아침에는 무료 커피, 따뜻한 물, 티슈도 제공되었어요.

리리뷰어Location is very close to Disneyland which is perfect, about 7-10 minute walk. It is hard to see the actual hotel because of the surrounding tall buildings but the small entrance is right next to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. We are a family of 6 with 16,7,8 and 3 year old kids. We were given a corner room, 2 queen bed suite. Room location is not ideal, we have a view of the hotel’s HVAC system. I think the suite is quite small but it does not matter to us since we didn’t book to stay at the hotel but to spend in Disneyland. I have one complaint about the room: the charging station (one) by the night stand was not working, as well as the reading light on one of the beds. This is personally important to me as I need to charge my phone at the end of the day and I need it close to my bed for easy access. The bathroom is clean. Spacious stand in shower. Great water pressure and temperature. Spacious bathroom vanity with large LED mirror. Towels are enough. Toiletries are complete. Room kitchen is complete with a spacious fridge. Room sofa is ok, not the most comfortable but it is not a deal breaker for me. The sofa can turn into a bed but we didn’t use it. One large tv in the living area and one large tv in the bedroom. I think the closet size is decent, has limited number of hangers. Hotel lobby and dining area is clean and well maintained. Staff is friendly, courteous and professional. Free buffet breakfast when I booked, it was good- depending on the day, they offered scrambled eggs, sausage, Canadian bacon, tater tots, fried potatoes, grapes and honeydew, different flavored yogurt, make-your-own-Mickey-waffles, bagels. They have all the condiments and all kinds of drinks. You can order food from your room from outside places (room service) but the choices are limited and of course more expensive; we used DoorDash instead as the price is about the same, if not, cheaper and the choices are endless and it was delivered right to our room anyway. Check in and check out process is quick and smooth. I’d say our stay was comfortable and enjoyable for the most part!
