Last year I had the most wonderful stay at Menina Colina, and was excited to return. Unfortunately I now wish I had reserved elsewhere, as it has been nothing but a disappointment. Prices are so much higher than a year ago, but I thought I got what was a good deal on the garden room. Turns out it is greatly overpriced for what is offered, as it has none of the exquisite design or attention to detail that the interior rooms have. It also seems to be neglected in terms of maintenance. The coffee machine was leaking, and after reporting it, it was made out to be my fault as I was using it incorrectly. I had to physically show a member of staff the leaked water for them to agree to replace it. I was really annoyed that they felt that they needed to demonstrate to me how it works rather than just replacing it immediately. The next disappointment was that the room was initially not serviced at all, and no explanation was given. When you are paying $165 for a mediocre room (not even including breakfast), one would at the very least expect the bins to be emptied. The bathroom also had a terrible smell that permeated the room, and mosquitoes were a problem too. Management did offer me lunch or attendance of their fado show, but none of these arrangements fitted into my busy programme. I thought a small financial compensation would have made more sense. That did not happen, and nothing further was mentioned or discussed on check-out. The final issue was the online check-out which they require. When I tried to complete it, my bill was for my entire stay, although 3 of the 4 nights had already been paid months in advance. So my conclusion is unfortunately that Menina Colina’s standards have dropped significantly, and that it is overpriced for the lack of attention to detail that is evident in several areas.

One of the Best Serviced Apartments We’ve Stayed At This was easily the best serviced apartment we’ve stayed at recently. All the facilities were brand new, and the cleanliness—especially in the kitchen and bathroom—surpassed even some 4-star hotels. Everything we needed was provided, and the interior design was excellent. The bed was also very comfortable. Great location, great price, great amenities. Here are a few potential downsides that might matter to some guests: • The internet was very slow. The Wi-Fi signal on the second floor was the strongest, so we used that, but it was barely sufficient for even checking emails. It felt as if the connection was intentionally throttled. If you need stable internet for work, tethering through your phone might actually be faster. • No elevator. Our unit was located on the second floor, and we had to carry about 30kg of luggage up the stairs ourselves. Even a small, old-fashioned lift would have been a huge help. • Noise from upstairs. Although the apartment was newly renovated, the flooring is still the original wooden structure, so noise from the upper floor can be heard. We were tired enough to sleep through it with earplugs, but sensitive guests should take this into account. Booking the top-floor unit might solve this issue, though that means climbing even more stairs. • Early check-in confusion. We had requested an early check-in, but it wasn’t communicated properly. As a result, we had to drop off our luggage at the YOUROPO office, which is about a 6–7 minute walk from the apartment. I wonder if we could’ve left our luggage directly at the property if the message had gone through properly—perhaps someone from the team could clarify? Despite these minor issues, I would still give this property a full 5 stars. If we visit Porto again, YOUROPO will be at the top of our list.

Pros - Location - easy access to Porto downtown area (3 metro stations to Sao Bento) - I choose travelling by metro as walking uphill and downhill in Porto is really tiring! - Room size as well as toilet - spacious enough even for two people, facilities - I like the kettle for boiling hot water. - Water from the shower very powerful and comfortable. - 2 bakery cafes nearby for taking breakfast (with reasonable price), one Chinese restaurant nearby provides hot food. Cons - Did not expect there was nobody at hotel front desk upon my arrival. With the help of a kind lady, I could communicate with the hotel staff via whatsapps and was able to check in without problem. ( I would like to say thanks to that kind lady) - No elevator, staying at lower floors is preferrable. - the room floorings had a cracking sound while walking, may be the building was a little bit old.

저는 이 호텔에서 정말 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다. 이비스 호텔은 항상 기대했던 대로 서비스, 직원, 편의시설, 청결도 등 모든 것이 만족스러워서 제가 선호하는 호텔입니다. 이 호텔은 역사적인 중심지에 위치해 있어 교통이 매우 편리했습니다. 대중교통은 거의 이용하지 않았고, 모든 곳이 걸어서 갈 수 있는 거리였습니다. 조식도 필요한 모든 것이 갖춰져 있어 좋았습니다. 특히 디카페인 커피와 식물성 우유가 있어서 더욱 만족스러웠습니다. 빵과 과일도 맛있었고요. 다만 채소가 좀 더 많았으면 좋았을 것 같습니다. 하지만 필요한 것은 호텔 입구에 있는 슈퍼마켓에서 모두 구입할 수 있습니다. 참고로, 이 슈퍼마켓은 배낭여행객들에게 비용 절약에 아주 좋은 곳입니다. 슈퍼마켓에는 즉석식품 코너가 있어서 다양한 요리, 오믈렛, 샐러드, 음료, 심지어 작은 병에 담긴 와인까지 바로 사서 먹을 수 있습니다. 저는 채소가 좀 부족해서 샐러드를 사서 (종류가 정말 다양해요!) 거기서 저녁으로 먹었습니다. 꼭 한 번쯤 이용해 보시길 추천합니다. 볼트 앱(우리나라의 우버와 비슷한 앱)도 이 도시에서 잘 작동하니 이용해 보시는 것도 좋을 것 같습니다. 참고로, 볼트 앱도 추천합니다. 전반적으로 호텔이 정말 마음에 들었어요. 프런트 직원분도 친절했고, 제가 미리 일찍 도착한다고 말씀드렸더니 아침에 체크인을 도와주셨어요. 정말 감사했습니다!) ❤️ 감사합니다!

I recently spent four nights at Aparthotel Oporto Sol, and while my stay was overall okay, it came with a few drawbacks. First, the location is a bit outside the main area of Porto, which required some extra effort to get into the heart of the city. One of the main issues was the absence of air conditioning in the bedroom. During my stay, the temperatures were warm, and it made things uncomfortable at night. Opening the windows was not an option due to the presence of mosquitoes outside, which meant I struggled to find a comfortable sleeping temperature. On the positive side, the apartment itself was spacious and generally clean. The amenities were adequate for my needs, and the staff was friendly and helpful, albeit a few blocks over. I appreciated the kitchenette, which allowed me to prepare some of my own meals during my stay. In summary, while my stay at Aparthotel Oporto Sol had its merits, the lack of air conditioning and its location outside the main area impacted my overall experience. If you're sensitive to heat or prefer to be in the city center, you may want to consider other options. Otherwise, it serves as a decent accommodation for those seeking a quieter spot.
