Horrible Service and an absolute SCAM!!!!! Would rate 0/5 stars but the minimum is 1/5 we can put. We had a booking for one night for a total of 45$. Even though it says that check-in ist from 4pm on, you are not allowed to even enter the street to the hotel or the hotel. Check-in refers to the room and NOT the hotel area! We arrived at 1pm and were not allowed to enter the hotel area to watch the elephants which have a bath time from 2-4pm. We did not want to go to the room, just stay at the lobby/watching area until the room is ready. We were stopped at the Main Street saying we are not allowed to enter the area, which is not written anywhere in the hotel information or booking area!! Then suddenly they (the men controlling the entrance and a police officer) said we are allowed to enter the street/hotel area if we buy a ticket for a total of 15$ which we obviously did not do. What a scam....also we called the hotel twice and they said the same thing. If this was written somewhere, the clients/guestes can prepare and decide wether to go and pay or not, but as it was written nowhere we were shocked and absolutely disappointed of this scam. Also the locals told us that the hotel is just about making money and not at all about the elephant's wellbeing...you can watch the elephants bath for free in other areas of Pinnawala, which we then did. As neither the hotel nor the employees at the Main Street were nice or willing to help us, we absolutely do not recommend to stay here. Horrible experience and we then cancelled and went away from Pinnawala.

We had a great holiday at Misty Hills Villa. Lovely interior, Clean and Spacious rooms. Kids had space to run and play inside the villa. The mountain views and the atmosphere was soo good here. The care taker Inshaf was also very good. We will visit again. Thank you
