On a quiet side street in Ballard just 3 blocks from Puget Sound, Goldfinch House is a cheerful new shed-roof contemporary with sleek, Scandinavian-style furnishings. The home is filled with art and light, with a beautifully outfitted chef’s kitchen, media lounge with 65" screen and a high-ceilinged main suite with soaking tub and deck. Outdoors, a large backyard with lawn is surrounded by lush plantings, a dining terrace, grill and outdoor furnishings. We're a 5-minute walk from the Ballard Locks and the National Nordic Museum, and just 12 minutes from downtown Ballard, with its historic street filled with shops and some of the city's best restaurants. There's also a spectacular waterfront walk just below our house that leads past Shilshole Marina to the beautiful sand beach at Golden Gardens.A stay at Goldfinch House is far beyond the usual. Our egg yolk yellow door is the entrance to an extraordinary accommodation with luxurious amenities, thoughtful touches and concierge-style assistance. The home basks in light from skylights and clerestory windows. The main floor is high above the street, offering a sense of serenity and privacy. The great room invites conversation, with a soft leather sectional, cushy pillows and throws, vibrant art, plants and a 65" Sony TV. Our kitchen is fully stocked for the needs of a serious home cook or chef, with high-end appliances, All-Clad pots and pans and an abundance of kitchen implements to make it easy to prepare anything from cookies to a feast. A gorgeous 11-foot granite island with counter chairs turns meal prep into a community affair.The main suite is an elegant retreat with high ceilings, clerestory windows and a sliding glass door leading to a deck with outdoor lounge furniture overlooking landscaped gardens. A king-size bed, super soft high-quality linens and a duvet add creature comforts. The en suite bathroom has an ultra deep soaking tub, radiant floor and two-person, glass walk-in shower.Next door, the queen bedroom is a quiet space with plush bed linens and whimsical art. It's at the far western edge of the neighborhood, so close to Puget Sound you can smell the sea at low tide and hear seagulls as they fly overhead. It's only a few blocks to the water and Seattle's iconic waterfront restaurant, Ray's Boathouse, known for its spectacular view of the Salish Sea and Olympic Mountains. There are lots of fun attractions on the waterfront, including the small but beautiful Secret Beach and a seaside promenade along Shilshole Marina to the city's best sand beach, Golden Gardens. With paddle board and kayak rentals and the city's highest rated sandwich shop (Un Bien; Cuban style), there is lots to see and do along the Shilshole waterfront. Just 3 blocks from our home, the Ballard Locks is an absolute must-see. It's the only working locks in the nation that's open to the public, and it's truly an amazing sight to see vessels of all types being raised or lowered between Puget Sound and the Washington Ship Canal. A salmon ladder and botanical garden add to the dramatic scenes here.Just a block from the Locks, the National Nordic Museum has been drawing raves internationally since it opened a few years ago. This modern, experiential museum showcases Scandinavian history and culture up until the present day; it also has a great cafe and gift shop.Our home is just a 15-minute walk from Ballard's historic district, along Ballard Avenue NW, where turn-of-the-20th century brick buildings house multiple chef-driven restaurants, dessert shops and boutiques. Ballard is also home to the state’s largest brewery district, with more than a dozen breweries offering fun indoor/outdoor settings.The home's owners, Leslie and Brian, are Northwest natives and foodies who keep their fingers on the pulse of the latest restaurants and attractions. They enjoy sharing their love of this beautiful region with guests, and are happy to help craft itineraries to make the most of guests' stays.Leslie has lived in this home for 30 years. They call it “Sunset Hill” because it has the best sunset views in Seattle! The full glass sunroom and office space that overlooks the quiet neighborhood has some of the best sunset views over the Olympic Mountains that you’ll ever see. Wake up to the cool ocean breeze off the Puget Sound and the sound of sea birds, harbor seals and tugboats in the distance while you watch the ships and sail boats pass by.Just a 5-minute walk to the “Secret Beach” to relax and swim, or to Baker's, our favorite neighborhood cocktail & dinner spot, or to Molly’s Bottle Shop for natural wine tasting, or to Salmonberry for the best bread and baked goods in Seattle, or to Un Bien for the most amazing Carribean sandwich you’ll ever have!Just a 15-minute walk through the beautiful flora and "old Seattle" neighborhood homes to Sunset Hill Park for a picnic and stunning views, or to historic downtown Ballard for shopping, bars and restaurants and its famous farmer's market on Sundays, or to the hidden gems Sunny Hill Restaurant for pizza and Cafe Fiore for coffee. Located in Seattle’s quietest neighborhood, our brand new two bedroom 1000 sq/ft downstairs unit is only five miles from Pike Place Market, two blocks from Discovery Park (534 acres) and half a mile walk from the Ballard Locks (Seattle’s second biggest tourist attraction). Boasting a full kitchen, eight foot high ceilings, washer/dryer, king bed, fireplace and much more, you will feel right at home. Also, being situated right next door to Metropolitan Market (a high end grocery store) makes everything convenient. Pop over for coffee and doughnuts, the deli for lunch, or their hot food line for dinner, they have it all, including wine and liquor, simply across the street. The 24 bus line is also only a half block away, so no need for a vehicle! We want you to enjoy our space as much as we do! Everything in our unit is meticulously cleaned and maintained. 방은 꽤 크고 깨끗합니다. 1층 로비에는 뜨거운 사과 계피차, 아이스 레모네이드, 작은 사과가 있어서 원하는 대로 마실 수 있습니다. 하지만 방에 있는 에어컨 소리가 너무 커서 작은 트랙터 소리가 났어요. 그래서 한밤중에 꺼야 했어요. 이곳은 오래된 호텔을 리모델링한 곳으로, 파이프와 원래 에어컨 장비는 교체되지 않았습니다. 한 가지 상기시켜드리자면, 체크인을 할 때 프런트 데스크에 있는 직원이 객실에 음료가 15달러 포함되어 있다고 말했습니다. 객실에 들어가 보니 작은 냉장고에 생수가 2병밖에 없었고, 각각 3달러라고 적혀 있었습니다. 마실 물에 딱 맞을 것 같아서 프런트 데스크에 가서 생수 3병을 샀습니다. 그때 직원이 객실의 물은 15달러 범위에 들지 않는다고 했고, 아래 작은 카운터에 10달러짜리 생수만 있다고 했습니다. 아무것도 없이 6달러를 더 냈습니다. 다음날 아침 식사를 하러 갔을 때, 어제 그 남자가 식사 쿠폰을 주지 않았다는 것을 알게 되었고, 그래서 우리는 다시 프런트 데스크에 가야 했습니다. 그러고 나서 우리는 남은 5달러로 견과류 한 봉지를 더 살 수 있을 것이라고 생각했습니다. 하지만 프런트 데스크의 소녀는 15달러에 전부 써야 한다고 했고, 그래서 우리는 어제 산 물을 오늘 사용할 수 없었습니다.

I am a Korean student who doesn’t speak English well, and I traveled alone for the GSA conference. Since it was my first time visiting the United States, I was both excited and worried. However, contrary to my concerns, the hotel provided a Korean manual, and they were very considerate and respectful, even though I couldn’t speak English well. I truly appreciated their effort to offer me as much support and service as possible. If I visit Seattle again, I would definitely stay here. Thank you so much for everything!
