The executive home is large and very open, perfect for large familys or multiple family's. When here, you will find yourself at one with the beautiful Black Hills. This 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath log home has 3 king bed, Plus relaxation areas on each level, 22 ft high soaring vaulted ceilings, free wireless internet, 2 smart TV's, exercise equipment, ping pong table, fully equipped kitchen, Laundry, gas grill, plenty of parking (including space for trailers), Zero entry on the main level, Geothermal efficiency, temperature-controlled floors, 2 viewing decks and over 8 private acres to roam and take in all the wildlife!This property is on approximately 4 miles of gravel roads. The cozy Marjorie Suite is located on the upper level of Mr. McDonald's private residence. It is located above his kitchen and has its own private entrance, accessed via stairs, located on the North side of the building. Parking is available nearby on the West side of the building.The Marjorie Suite is cooled by a portable air conditioner. Heat is supplied by a space heater. The suite includes a 32" Roku SmartTV connected to our Starlink satellite internet. The Marjorie Suite is an open floor plan which sleeps up to 3 people. It has a king size bed and a twin bed. Accommodations include an in-suite bath, single sink, and a walk in shower with glass doors. The kitchenette includes a microwave, toaster, drip coffeemaker, dorm fridge, and an induction hot plate. Basic cooking and eating utensils are provided, including dishes and glasses. We stock basic spices, and a limited amount of coffee and filters. We also provide all bed, bath, and kitchen linens. Please note: This is our only kitchenette that does not include a sink. There is a sink in the bathroom. We stock two dishpans and dish soap. There is a small table and two chairs for dining inside, located within the main suite area. We have another table and chairs, plus benches, on the private deck for outdoor dining and lounging. There is a three day minimum to reserve the Marjorie Suite. Minimum age requirement on the Marjorie Suite is age 5.We do not have guest laundry facilities. There are laundromats in Keystone and Hill City. Garbage cans are located on the West facing wall of the building, where the parking area is. Unfortunately, due to many considerations, we do not allow pets / animals on the property. No exceptions. If a guest arrives for their reservation with an animal they will NOT be given a rental key NOR issued a refund. Located on the first floor, this area is the original master bedroom of the McDonald Ranch Lodge. The Lodge was designed and built by Richard McDonald, the current resident and owner. The suite has been slightly redesigned to become a lovely space for our guest’s enjoyment. An entrance to the Master Suite has been added to the cozy, private deck. The deck has built in bench seating beneath a large oak tree. There is also a table with two chairs for outdoor dining.The suite faces the front of the property, to the East, with views of the fields across the county road. A kitchenette has been added which includes a sink, dining and basic cooking utensils, toaster, drip coffeemaker, microwave, induction hot plate with cooking pans, and dorm size fridge. A large flat screen TV with a Roku stick and remote are included. We use Starlink satellite internet for our WiFi, free of charge for our guests. This suite includes custom wood flooring, a vaulted ceiling with considerable windows, and a king size bed. The in-suite bathroom includes a large jacuzzi bathtub with windows, sink with expansive counter space, toilet closet, and a spacious walk-in shower. This suite is ideal for a couple, or as additional space to the adjacent Carriage House Cabin. The Carriage House Cabin is located a few steps away, to the South. I.E. Dad, Mom, and a couple of little ones in the Carriage House with Grandma and Grandpa in the Master Suite. There is a three day minimum to reserve the Master Suite. We do not have guest laundry facilities. There are laundromats in Keystone and Hill City. Garbage cans are located on the West facing part of the main house, where the parking area is.Unfortunately, due to many considerations, we do not allow pets / animals on the property. No exceptions. Just a stone's throw from Custer State Park! Three guest cabins, plus two suites in the lodge, are located on 6 beautiful, serene acres in Custer County, SD.The Calamity Jane cabin is an authentic, historic log home with the original wood floor, main door, and historic rock fireplace. (Due to its historical nature the fireplace is non-functioning.) The cabin got its name because Calamity Jane herself spent an evening in the cabin while traveling through the hills back in the day. The Calamity Jane is an open floor plan which sleeps 3 people. It has a king size bed and a twin bed. A kitchenette and small bath were added to the original cabin. (The old outhouse still stands nearby; we use it as a gardening shed.) The kitchenette includes a sink, microwave, mini fridge, toaster, drip coffeemaker, and an induction hot plate. We stock the kitchenette with pots, pans, basic cooking and eating utensils. We include dishes, drinking glasses, basic spices, and a limited amount of coffee and filters. A small bath with a walk in shower and toilet. There is also a kitchen table with two chairs, as well as a dining table with four chairs near the fireplace. There is a 32" Roku TV in the main cabin. We use Starlink satellite internet for our Wifi. Outside there is an all cedar deck with a small table, 2 chairs, and BBQ grill for outdoor enjoyment.There is a 3 day minimum to rent the Calamity Jane.McDonald Mountain Ranch is in a very convenient location. Center Lake is nearby, which is a swimming/fishing lake with picnic tables, barbeque grills, showers and restrooms; located 2 miles away from the ranch. The Black Hills Historic Playhouse is also within a few miles. The beautiful Iron Mountain Hiking Trail is right around the corner. The Wolf Camp outdoor restaurant which serves barbeque ribs, burgers, pizza, etc is 1/2 mile away. Entire place to yourself! This property is brand new, located in picturesque setting. It’s truly a hidden treasure.... Take a drive down Ghost Canyon Road where you can take a hiking trail. Take a left onto Playhouse Rd where you’ll find the perfect hike to an abandoned gold mining town of Spokane. Lakota Lake, Center Lake and Bismarck Lake are also very close! Use one of our kayaks and pull out a big Rainbow Trout!This place was built for you! This hotel was in an excellent place to visit Mount Rushmore and the surrounding areas. The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. The town closes down around 9pm so the only thing lacking was food and entertainment after 9-10pm. There are towns a few miles away that have places that stay open a little later. Plan to take time to eat early and enjoy the town. It’s very cute and there are plenty of fun things to do!

The location is good for staying a night for visiting Mount Rushmore. The staff is very helpful. She helped us to change a room we needed. We had a very good sleep. The only comment is about the breakfast which is very simple.

L'hôtel était fermé pour problème technique (apparemment lié à l'eau), mais j'ai mis des côtes de très bien car je l'ai déjà utilisé dans d'autres voyages. On a été relogé dans un hôtel à 100m, mais sans petit dejeuner qui était compris dans le premier. Après avoir contacté Trip.com, le prix complet du petit déj. nous a été remboursé dans les 24h.
