If you are considering staying overnight in Sintra, look no further than this hotel. It may be a bit more expensive than others in the area, but it’s worth every cent. The service level well exceeds those of any five star hotel, and the location is perfect for walking to most of the sites in Sintra. The property is well maintained and the history of the property adds ambience. Breakfast was outstanding offering something for everyone. Our only regret was that we did not “discover” the French Toast sooner. It was one of THE most memorable dishes we ever had: it’s like eating “sweet air”. Definitely worth every single calorie and carb! Thank you to everyone at the Tivoli for a memorable stay.

We had a great time during our 5 night stay at the Vila Gale Sintra. I’ll start with the pros of the resort. The property itself is beautiful. The pools, the scenery around the hotel are amazing. The family room layout was great for us. It was essentially what appeared to be what used to be two rooms combined into one. The large balcony was great for sitting out at night. The sunset was spectacular from our room. The kids activities were great as my kids got to enjoy the carousel, playground and trampoline park. Be aware though that they only open these at certain times throughout the day. The breakfast was great and had a ton of selections. There were a few cons, the first was the buffet dinner. It was quite expensive at 29 euros per person and the options werent great. They only really had one meat and one fish that they were cooking and there was a line to wait in if you wanted it. We only ate dinner there the first night. The room was partially refurbished. The carpet looked older and the sliding door within the room kept coming off the tracks. And the bathroom was a little odd in that the vanity was open to the rest of the room. So if someone needed to use the lights for it they would light potentially wake up the person in the room if they were sleeping. Then the WiFi, while it worked well for the most part, kept having to reconnect to the network. This happened on both my phone and iPad several times each day while I was there. The location of the hotel has its pluses and minuses. It is a quiet resort away from the city of Sintra. And it’s also located in a place that makes it easy to get to the beach and Colares. But there isn’t anything else right around the hotel so you need to rent a car or take an Uber to get around. We took and Uber and it did work pretty well. Nothing is within walking distance and the nearest bus stop is a 20-30 minute walk away.

이것은 매우 혼합된 리뷰입니다. 호텔은 전반적으로 아름답고 역사가 깊습니다. 공공 장소는 매우 훌륭하고 휴식을 취할 수있는 흥미로운 코너가 많이 있습니다. 아침 식사는 훌륭하고 직원들은 매우 즐겁습니다. 그러나 우리는 1박에 거의 250유로의 수페리어 룸을 예약했고 우수한 경험을 즐기지 못했습니다. 발코니 테라스 공간은 숲이 내려다보이는 사랑스러웠지만 충분한 공간이 있음에도 불구하고 거기에는 똑바로 세워진 의자가 두 개뿐이었습니다. 테이블과 일광욕용 라운저가 훨씬 더 좋고 편안했을 것입니다. 방 자체는 작고 어두웠고 욕실은 개조가 절실히 필요합니다. 세면대에 큰 균열이 있었고 욕조에 검은 자국이 있었고 모든 것이 매우 피곤했습니다. 이 때문에 별로 깨끗하지 않은 느낌이 들었습니다. 침대는 매우 탄력있는 매트리스로 불편하여 잠을 잘 자지 못했습니다. 우리는 그러한 비싼 숙박과 라벨 '수페리어 룸'에서 훨씬 더 많은 것을 기대했습니다. 이것은 5 성급 경험이 아닙니다.

We (family of 4) stayed at Penha Longa for a long weekend in June 2022, with the idea to discover the Sintra / Cascais region as well as relax and enjoy the multiple restaurants on site. The resort is big and offers a wide range of activities and amenities, such is that every different types of guests can certainly find what they are looking for - families, golfers, groups coming for an event, couples... Certainly we enjoyed our stay at Penha Longa - great choice of restaurants including two Michelin-starred ones (we loved Midori in particular), beautiful grounds perfect for a morning run, great base to do some sightseeing in the region (Sintra, Cascais - we even went to Lisbonne one day), historic monastery buildings for character, outdoor (2 of them) and indoor swimming pools... Special thanks to the concierge team for booking us great restaurant choices when we were out and about sightseeing. Penha Longa was exactly what we were looking for.

We have stayed there for a few days at the beginning of July as part of our annual main holidays. Advantages: * Breathtakingly beautiful place in the Portugese mountains. I could lay staring at the view from our room whole day. You can see castle and 2 palaces directly from the terrace. * The gardens are really nice, well groomed and give a very nice atmosphere for the whole stay. A lot of blooming flowers, well groomed grass - very Instagram friendly. * Place is very peaceful - a bit outside of the town, so it's very quiet, also during the night. You can also hear a lot of birds, which gives a very serene experience. * Swimming pool is placed on a terrace with amazing view, surrounded by the beautiful greenery. I enjoyed it very much, especially as it helped to cool down in a heatwave. * Very spacious room (superiour suite with kitchenette), well equipped, very clean, decorated nicely. There were also furniture on the terrace (table & chairs, as well as sun loungers). Really nice for eating meals outside or reading a book. * Access to the common kitchen with all the amenities, possibility to use washing machine (additional pay), water fountaine available all the time (no need to bring water from the shop). There's also small library with books, which can come in handy. * In general all the staff was very nice and courteous. They also give good tips as to where eat or what to visit nearby. * Possibility of booking a stay online. * Reasonable pricing Issues: * Lack of air-conditioning - which was a big flaw for our stay. We were there during a heat wave and sleeping through the night was simply impossible. It was very disapponting as WE ASKED BEFORE BOOKING the room and we were wrote that there is air-co in the ”superior suite”, which we booked exactly for that reason. When we came, it turned out it's only a device that is blowing air with water. It wasn't cooling the room. Also in 30 degrees, putting piece of ice inside does nothing. Maybe except for making room extremely humid. And device was paired with dehumidifier, which actually heats up the air when used. So I am still lost on how it was supposed to help. * Customer service - all the people were very kind and curteous, spoke great English, however I did not feel understood when we raised a complaint about lack of air conditioning. There was not much initiative to improve the situation (we only received additional fan, which also did not improve situation very much). They did not offer actual air-co device, help with finding another stay, not even a discount or free breakfast. Although indeed, we heard some apologies. Also the owner of the place, who could be seen in the property from time to time, did not make very welcoming impression. She also did not decide to talk to us after we raised a complaint, which I am pretty sure she knew about. *Breakfast - it was served in a very nice way, but the portions are very small (e.g. under postion ”cheese” you receive 2 small slices). Arrived exhausted after 24 hours flying time from Perth , Australia due to serious delays. Hotel Manager Rui was on phone enquiring about our arrival as we were very late. Rui was as relieved to see us as we were him and he immediately took our luggage upstairs for us and made us feel very welcome.During our 5 nights at the Nova Sintra Rui was invaluable with his suggestions and help in regard to Sintra & surrounds and we were made to feel nothing was too much trouble for him. As we were going on a walking adventure Rui would advise us tbe night before about our taxi pick up if applicable and even packed us a delicious lunch on one of the days. Breakfasts were delicious and healthy and the beautiful building was charming. Thank you Rui for your warmth & friendship and if ever we come back to Sintra we would stay no where else.

We were lucky enough to stay with Karen and Goncalo for three days this August 2022. We had a family of four stay in two of the rooms in the main house. Waking up every morning to have a wonderfully cooked breakfast, fresh orange juice and great coffee any way you wanted it. Karen gave us wonderful recommendations of what to do in town, as well as places to visit not far from Sintra. She even connected us with a driver that was able to take us to and from many places. When we come back to Sintra, we will be staying here again. A home away from home feeling.

The family room layout was great for us. It was essentially what appeared to be what used to be two rooms combined into one. The large balcony was great for sitting out at night. The sunset was spectacular from our room. The kids activities were great as my kids got to enjoy the carousel, playground and trampoline park. Be aware though that they only open these at certain times throughout the day. The breakfast was great and had a ton of selections. There were a few cons, the first was the buffet dinner. It was quite expensive at 29 euros per person and the options werent great. They only really had one meat and one fish that they were cooking and there was a line to wait in if you wanted it. We only ate dinner there the first night. The room was partially refurbished. The carpet looked older and the sliding door within the room kept coming off the tracks. And the bathroom was a little odd in that the vanity was open to the rest of the room. So if someone needed to use the lights for it they would light potentially wake up the person in the room if they were sleeping. Then the WiFi, while it worked well for the most part, kept having to reconnect to the network. This happened on both my phone and iPad several times each day while I was there. The location of the hotel has its pluses and minuses. It is a quiet resort away from the city of Sintra. And it’s also located in a place that makes it easy to get to the beach and Colares. But there isn’t anything else right around the hotel so you need to rent a car or take an Uber to get around. We took and Uber and it did work pretty well. Nothing is within walking distance and the nearest bus stop is a 20-30 minute walk away.

호텔은 기차역과 매우 가깝고 네비게이션에 따라 찾기 쉽습니다. 외부 안뜰이 아름답고 로비와 공공 장소도 아름답습니다. 다만, 오래된 집이라 엘리베이터가 없고, 고층에 사는 경우 캐리어를 들고 올라가야 합니다. 이것은 기본적으로 포르투갈의 오래된 집에 사는 호텔의 문제입니다. 우리는 작은 다락방과 멋진 전망이 있는 다락방 밖의 작은 발코니가 있는 스위트룸을 예약했습니다. 아침 식사는 그들이 사는 곳이 아닌 그들 자신의 커피 숍이며 5 분 미만의 매우 가깝습니다. 아침 식사는 빵, 치즈, 디저트, 과일, 1인당 주스 한 잔, 커피로 구성된 서양식으로 상당히 푸짐합니다.

If you are considering staying overnight in Sintra, look no further than this hotel. It may be a bit more expensive than others in the area, but it’s worth every cent. The service level well exceeds those of any five star hotel, and the location is perfect for walking to most of the sites in Sintra. The property is well maintained and the history of the property adds ambience. Breakfast was outstanding offering something for everyone. Our only regret was that we did not “discover” the French Toast sooner. It was one of THE most memorable dishes we ever had: it’s like eating “sweet air”. Definitely worth every single calorie and carb! Thank you to everyone at the Tivoli for a memorable stay.
