You can really feel the thoughtful care that went into transforming this heritage structure into a hotel — the preservation work is evident in every detail, blending history with comfort in a way that feels both respectful and welcoming. The staff on March 1st were exceptionally warm and attentive — both the gentleman and the lady were incredibly friendly and helpful, and they truly made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. They personally showed us the room and offered to help with our luggage, checked in on our food order, and even came by afterward to clear the plates. Their knowledge of the area was impressive, and they happily shared suggestions on what to see and do nearby. Meanwhile, fireworks were still going off in the distance, adding a festive atmosphere to the evening. The hotel itself continues to impress the more you explore it — a carefully restored historic space filled with thoughtful touches, including a lovely fruit platter in the room. There is also an interesting hall dedicated to Hakka culture that doubles as an event venue, and a stunning bar on the top floor overlooking the water, where we could watch people setting off fireworks across the river. Rooms are spacious, clean and well maintained. They should have given me free breakfast vouchers instead of free but horrible dinner. Some luxury or amenities are not that necessary.

Wonderful stay at Jingwan Hotel, Songkou. I had a fantastic experience staying at Jingwan Hotel, conveniently located near Songkou Ancient Town, a charming historic area known for its peaceful atmosphere and cultural heritage. The room was very spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The bed was especially comfortable, which made it easy to relax after a day of exploring. What truly made this hotel stand out, however, was the exceptional customer service. I received tremendous help from Xiao Zhu, who went above and beyond to make my stay smooth and enjoyable. She guided me on how to get to the hotel, recommended places to visit and eat, and patiently communicated with me through WeChat despite the language barrier. Her kindness didn’t stop there—she even gave me a ride to the bus station on her bike, which I deeply appreciated. I highly recommend Jingwan Hotel to anyone visiting Songkou. The warm hospitality alone makes it worth the stay!

Very conveniently located. Right opposite a bus terminal. We boarded bus no. 18 from the Mei Zhou West station to this terminal. The hotel is right opposite the bus terminal. Across the street, you can also find a lot of shops. Just continue walking for about 10-15 minutes to reach the popular pedestrian street: JiaYing Old street. The nearest bus stand (not the bus terminal) which is less than five minutes walk diagonally opposite the hotel will allow you to catch the bus to the Hakka museum. It is worth going to the Hakka museum to have a in depth understanding about the Hakka clans in this part of the world. The other interesting place to visit is NanKou, Hakka villages where you can see Hakka Dragon houses or Wei Long Wu. Buses#9 and #24 travel to and fro Mei Jiang city and NanKou village. The hotel room is clean, sound-proof, spacious and comfortable. The front desk staff are generally helpful except one whom we met during the day shift. She seemed to be reluctant to help us when we asked about the local attractions. And unlike the other hotels that we have been staying in, we were told that we will be charged 3 yuan for one extra bottle of water. But later they still gave us two extra bottles without any charges. Thank you.

The hotel is conveniently situated at a junction where you can find food very easily. There is also a supermarket nearby so we could just stroll over to grab a yogurt drink after meal. The hotel room looked dated and it’s observable from the design and the bathroom, as well as the carpets. However, the room is reasonably clean and service was sincere, friendly and prompt. I sent some clothes for laundry and the staff took the effort to inform me that the clothes would be hand washed then dried under the sun so they should be ready by evening time later on. She also informed me of the pricing, then went on to ask if I was alright with that. I like it that they are very clear with charges and there is no hidden cost. Service was also very prompt. I asked for more water at the concierge when I came back from dinner and the room service staff was already waiting for me at my room door with the water by the time I got out of the lift. The beds were clean and comfortable too. My aunt and I rested well for the two nights we stayed there. The only negative was probably the air conditioner which was quite loud. But once we fell asleep, it didn’t bother us. There is also a very cute tea set in the room which guests could utilize if they wanted tea. It would have been better if they had given us four bottles of water instead of two. Then we would have been having our little tea appreciation session more regularly.
