The front porch is a secluded place to have a private moment away from the family, while the large back porch sports a couch and 3 tables for gathering with the group, with an incredible Watauga Lake sunset view. All three bedrooms have queen beds, and one room has a twin trundle bed for extra accommodation. Welcome to Rustic Ridge! We are near skiing and hiking, making us a true 4 season destination. This little cabin was originally constructed over the foundation of an old tobacco barn built in the 1940s. It was struck by lightning in the 1970's, where it unfortunately burnt down. The materials used in the remodeling of what we now call Rustic Ridge were reclaimed materials. Most of the planks and finish lumber are a mix of wormy chestnut, ash, and cherry wood. They were salvaged from an old farmhouse that was dismantled on our nearby property. With all new plumbing and electrical, you get all the safety and comfort of your own home. The house is equipped with heating and air conditioning. There is plenty of parking directly in front of the cottage, and parking is monitored by a security camera for your safety.We are pet-friendly with a $35 fee. This allows One Pet, under 25lbs. We are very sorry but we have had several bad experiences from "well behaved house-broken pets." Evidence of a pet or pets in the house will be subject to a deduction from deposit.The maximum number of people allowed at the Lake House is 7. This includes non-guests who come for the day. This is a private home with surrounding neighbors. For respect of the neighbors, house parties are not allowed under any circumstances. Fines deducted from deposit may occur if number of guests rule or disrespect for neighbors property is broken.We provide some paper towels, dishwasher tabs, toilet paper and laundry detergent. You may want to bring extra if you have a larger group. A Dollar General is located down the road and is very well stocked with supplies as well.Please return all items, furniture and bedding to the room they were found in if you feel it is necessary to move things during your stay.All trash MUST go into trash bags before being placed in the outside can located in the garage. There is no recycling so please include these items in the trash bags. Also, do not dump grill ash or used charcoal directly into the trash cans. Please leave the outside trash can in the garage.Very important* This home has a septic system. Items such as feminine hygiene products, toilet wipes, baby wipes, napkins, and tissue CANNOT be flushed and must be thrown into the trash. This is true even if it says "flushable"!There are 2 kayaks that can be used by guests upon request to the Host at check in. You will need to let the Host know if you plan to use the water equipment. A fine will incur if paddles or seats are lost or damage is done to the equipment. You will need to supply your own Life jackets as they are required. You will need to return the kayaks to the storage rack at the end of each day and prior to leaving at the end of your stay.You will need to provide your own towels for outside use. If it is discovered that the bath/kitchen towels provided are used outside, you will be charged a replacement cost deducted from deposit.Linen, blankets, pillows, kitchen and bath towels are provided.On the coffee table there are pamphlets with local attractions and activities.
