The 20-30 flies on the ceiling should have made us leave. However we were exhausted and knew no other rooms were available in town. My friend and I rented two rooms (Room 216 and 221) at the Days Inn in Delta CO. Never have either of us had such a negative experience at a hotel. As we pulled into the motel (past a sign so faded it was hard to tell it was a Days Inn location), we saw the reception area was closed. It became obvious there were going to be multiple construction issues. The office was closed and the adjoining room was used for registration. It was a total mess, with part of the bathroom visible, papers strewn all about, a table used for a counter etc. We rented two rooms. One caveat--it appears that these rooms were possibly being partially ”renovated?” Should not have been rented out. • Door to room 221 was wide open upon arrival and thus numerous flies were all over the ceiling • Could not set clock in 221. It was on, but couldn’t reset time. • Phones in both rooms non-working • Room 221 Masking tape around ceiling (obvious paining project ongoing) • Room 221 Used lotion container on sink • Room 221 Exposed wiring in sink room • Room 221 Smoke detector hanging of ceiling and looked really old and yellowed • Room 221 Bathroom fan not working • Room 216 and 221 Coffee machines with NO coffee pots or coffee packets • Room 216 and 221 Couldn’t get on Wi-Fi in evening—obviously not enough capacity • Room 216 and 221 TVs not plugged in and/or not working (TVs were ancient) • Room 216 and 221 Multiple lamps not working and/or not plugged in (would have had to move large armoires to plug in some fixtures • Room 216 Outlet off wall. Placed on window ledge • Room 216 Air conditioner dial setting were not matched up with functions. e.g., OFF didn’t turn it off. • Room 216 Sink had no pop-up drain. Room 221 had something—not a pop-up drain. • Room 216 Chair had fake leather worn off seat • Room 216 and 221 had styrofoam cups only. No cups in plastic wrap. Ewww. • Hallway Soda machine unplugged/not working • Room 221 Swing bar lock on door missing, but screws there. Felt so safe • Room 221 Part of moulding on bathtub has big hole • Room 216 Pulled drawers and chest out to try to plug in lights—looked really dirty behind chest; stuff on floor And I could probably go on had I more time. AND we had this wonderful experience for almost double the normal price of $89.95 . The two rooms with taxes were each $176.00
