The hotel itself was a great experience and we did enjoy the novelty of staying in the prison which I would recommend to anyone. Upon arrival we were welcome by the team but very basic information was given, leading to us missing a tour of the hotel which we were told was included in the price. The manager then offered for one of the team to do a later tour for just the two of us which was cut short, very awkward and definitely not worth the money paid for. If we had been advised of the tour with the bigger group when checking in we may have had a better experience. We decided to book dinner at the chapel to experience it as much as we could but dinner was poor. We had to wait for our table, 3 different people asked for our name before we sat down and then again a fourth person checked once we were sat down. With minimal staff on the service was poor to say the least and The burger ordered was pretty much raw, I did not finish it. Once we had finished no one came to ask if we wanted anything else or to look at a dessert menu. We left the restaurant with no one even there working! Not sure where the team had disappeared to. Breakfast was good and would recommend it.

Incredible views from the room! Spa was lovely and we enjoyed a few drinks at the beautiful bar all decorated for Christmas (: recommend the Cornish cream tea!

The place was good to camp. The toilets were shared, so it was not clean. There were used tissues inside the bathroom all the time. The room was good but it was not properly clean. The room amenities like the heated mattress and the heater was good. Others like the hair dryer were covered in dust like it was not used or cleaned in weeks.

Great cottage, had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely book again.
