다퉁은 처음 방문하는 곳이라 구시가지 안에 숙소를 잡고 싶어서 피파 인(Pipa Inn)을 선택했어요. 도착해서 보니 위치가 ​​정말 마음에 들더라고요. 구시가지 한가운데에 있어서 화엄사(Huayan Temple)와 구룡벽(Nine Dragon Wall)까지 걸어서 10분밖에 안 걸려서 택시를 탈 필요가 없었어요. 숙소는 고풍스럽고 따뜻한 분위기였어요. 다퉁의 난방 시스템이 탄광이 많아서 그런 걸까요? 정말 따뜻하더라고요!

Amazing family that runs an equally amazing hotel (all of whom speak fantastic english). The beautiful old buildings are charming and full of character, so beautiful in fact that the courtyard is used by local photographers and other tourists as a backdrop for their costumed shots. The only negative I could give (other than the slight loss of privacy due to the photographers, if that bothers you) would be the drainage of the shower in the room, after a shower you are stood in a paddling pool. The lack of cigarette smell in the room and surrounding area is a definite bonus.

OVerall its was a pleasant stay for 1 night. We stayed on the ground floor although there are passer-by along the corridor, there are night curtains to block the windows for our privacy. Room lighting abit dim, flushing system not very good, should provide more pillows for neck support. There is an additional charge from the the hotel if you need to bring your luggages from the main road alternatively you can pay the buggy driver (small golf car)and ride along with the luggages to the hotel. Night ambience in the hotel is super photogenic!

Unfortunately, the overall stay was not great. When we booked the hotel, we specifically requested a non-smoking room, which is essential for us because of health issues. After double confirming with the hotel that they have non-smoking rooms (based on the website, all rooms are non smoking), we paid for our booking. However, shortly after, they informed us that smoking in hotel rooms is common and unavoidable in Taiyuan. We felt deceived into making the payment and realized we were stuck with this accommodation for our 7-day stay. Upon checking in, we had to request a room change due to a strong smoke smell in the original room. The second room was better and the hotel staff was nice enough to provide an air purifier. Throughout our entire stay, people were smoking in the elevator, lobby, and even at the dinner table. If we had known this beforehand, we would have reconsidered staying here. For a 5-star hotel, it did not meet our expectations, and unfortunately, we paid far too much for this experience. The only highlight of our stay was the hotel staff. They were always friendly, helpful, and did their very best to serve the guests, which made our trip a bit more enjoyable. We thank them for their excellent service.

Clean, well kept, and modern. In an excellent location for exploring the Datong Ancient City. Service was great, and the hotel staff were always willing to help me navigate to various nearby attractions such as the Yungang Grottoes and Hanging Temple.
