You shouldn’t left out Togetsukyo Bridge on your list when visiting Arashiyama, for it is a center attention of Arashiyama. Having Hozu River at its western side and Katsura River at its eastern side, the bridge gives a serenity atmosphere, while Mount Arashiyama as one of its backdrops makes a magnificent view. The pathway would be very crowd in autumn and spring, when the nature gives its best to everyone who appreciates its beauties. Moreover, many scenic tours are taking place here and the bridge itself gives a picturesque sight, another reason why it becomes one of Arashiyama landmark.
Togetsukyo bridge was built between 834 and 848 and it is 155m long. The bridge was named “ Togetsukyo” sometime between 1259 and 1274.
The beauty of this place is not the bridge itself but the surroundings. We had some very beautiful pictures of our trip taken here. And it's really just on the way to Arashiyama bamboo grove.
The Togetsu-kyo Bridge has been a landmark in Western Kyoto's Arashiyama District for over four hundred years. The wooden bridge spans the Katsura River in front of Arashiyama Mountain. There area has lots of little shops and restaurants and is close to the Tenryuji temple and the bamboo grove.
