Songhua Lake Scenic Area is located in the southeast of Jilin City, Jilin Province, 15 kilometers away from the main urban area. Songhua Lake is an inter-mountain reservoir formed after the Japanese built a dam to intercept the Songhua River in 1937 and built a Fengman Hydropower Station. It has vast waters, numerous lakes and dragons. The shape of the lake is long and narrow, with a maximum width of 10 kilometers, a lake area of 554 square kilometers, an average water depth of 22 meters, the deepest depth of 77.5 meters, and the maximum water storage capacity of 10.8 billion cubic meters. Songhua Lake attracts a large number of tourists both at home and abroad with its unique geographical location, distinct climatic conditions in four seasons and beautiful scenery of the lake.
