Preah Khan means "Holy Sword" in Cambodian. Saint Sword Temple was established by Jayavarman VII in order to worship his father and demonstrate his great achievements in conquering Champa. However, western scholars believe that it should also have the educational function of a school or monastery, and also be a place to cure the Royal family. Saint Sword Temple is almost the same size as the Royal palace. It covers a much larger area than Taplan Temple, where mothers are sacrificed. The sculpture on the walls of the Beam and Column Palace is very exquisite. It is another important achievement of Gayawaman VII in Angkor Dynasty.
