Barong Monastery is the best scenic spot in Angkor Monument Circle. The famous "Khmer Smile" is in this temple. Barong Temple was built by the Angkor King Rongye Bama and dedicated to his mother's temple, so it is also called "Mother's Temple". The inner corridor of the temple is beautifully carved. 49 pagodas are surrounded by a central pagoda, with four Buddhas carved on each pagoda. Four sides refer to mercy, compassion, joy, and shelter. From the doorframes around the pagoda, you can see four sides of the Buddha. The face of the four-faced Buddha is said to be the true face of the builder, Yongye Bama, who is charitable and peaceful, with a slightly raised corner of his mouth and large and thick lips, typical of the Khmer people's face. Anxious to find "Khmer Smile" four-sided Buddha, you can climb the top of the pagoda, turn left to see.
