🌳 The Legend of the Centennial Nanmu Tree
Have you heard about the legend of the centennial nanmu tree in the village? It is said that in the early Ming Dynasty, a scholar who was on his way to the capital for the imperial examination took shelter under the tree during a storm. A lightning bolt split the nanmu tree, and the scholar took it as a divine sign, so he bowed three times and kowtowed nine times before continuing on his way. Eventually, he passed the examination with high honors, and when he returned to his hometown, he specially paid homage to this divine tree to thank the heavens for their guidance. This nanmu tree has since become the guardian spirit of the village, bringing peace and good fortune to the villagers.
