Dallas' historic West End is filled with great restaurants eclectic stores and beautiful architecture. It's definitely worth a visit.

Spending time in the West End is must when in Dallas. Designated a Historic District in 1975, old warehouses and historic brick buildings in this 20 block area of downtown have been converted into restaurants and shops. Visit West End MarketPlace (previously the Sunshine Biscuit Company) and "Dallas Alley" (primary location for Dallas nightlife). A sample of well known businesses and sights in the West End include Hard Rock Cafe, Spaghetti Warehouse, House of Blues, Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse, Dallas World Aquarium, Dallas Holocaust Museum and Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza. If you are not staying in the downtown area, you can easily reach the West End via DART.

This area is the birthplace of Dallas, where John Neely Bryan opened the first trading post. A replica of his cabin can be seen on Founder’s’ Plaza on Market and Elm. The Old Red Museum of Dallas County is located on Main and Houston. Behind it is the John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza. The Sixth Floor Museum is located nearby. The architecture of the West End is an interesting mix of turn of the century and modern buildings.
