An almost perfect getaway option near Matanzas. Located on a hill with the commanding view over the Pacific ocean coast it was exactly what I expected from this property. The cabanas (or more precisely - semi-cabanas) are very comfortable, each with its own terrace. On the back side - they are located quite densely near each other, so don't expect much privacy. On the other side, there are very good quality communal areas, which includes pool, garden and even fireplaces. The restaurant is also of good quality (and even not so heavily overpriced as usually). The reception ladies are very friendly and efficient, really nothing negative to be worth mentioning.

Stayed here for business and the location is the strongest aspect, with a good staff team running the show. The parking is also free beneath the hotel; but overall it’s all a bit dated and limited. That’s probably fine as most folks passing through are business and industry types, who don’t need to be fussed over, but having some amenities that worked would make the experience more comfortable.

A very stylish option to stay located near the center of the town. The owner (Mauricio) has converted a modern house into a museum-like property. You can literally spend hours in studying all the little artifacts and pictures around the house. A separate and very special experience is the breakfast around the communal table with the candle lights and exquisite cutlery. The back side of this - the rooms are not very spacious and the beds are not quite comfortable. The valet parking is on the other side of the street - as I understand it is not allowed to leave your car on the street during the night. The city center lies some 900 m away, but I would not say that this is a big problem (since the main attraction of the region are the wineries and not the city itself)
