Brass bed, loft, two smart TVs, kitchenette, AC/heat and 3/4 bath on one acre behind the host's home.The Casita has a half-split electric AC/heater, microwave, mini-fridge, dishes/cups/flatware. We also recommend using our camp chairs to enjoy our private beach on Tillie Creek. sitting in the creek - on boulders or the chairs - is a delightful, mesmerizing treat as the waters flow by.If you love connecting with the past, be sure to visit our ancient grindstone, left behind by indigenous tribes (located in SE corner of the property, beyond the fenced area). Families carved pits into the boulder that were used to grind acorns, which was used to make gruel and fry bread. For thousands of years, the Tubatulabal tribes migrated here to this location every winter and returned to the cooler mountains in summer. (Their petroglyphs are visible at various locations, and their descendants still live here to this day.) We are honored to have this beautiful artifact at El Escondite for you to experience for yourself.The outdoor table and porch benches are exclusive to the Casita. You are welcome to use the firepit, gather kindling, access the solar water purification system and explore the entire property. Tillie Creek runs through the back of the property and is where deer and other critters pass through. (The creek runs seasonally but is expected to flow into the summer months.)Other things to noteEl Escondite's grounds offer lots of space and privacy. The hosts are usually around. Lots of parking and space for a small rv/ trailer. Come play in the snow up the mountain during winter, enjoy the lake all year round. Explore the town, find a few treasures at the antique store, hike the Trail of 100 Giants, soak in Miracle Hot Springs, and fish or catch crayfish in the river/lake.This cabin had been used by my family to help treat my husband's PTSD for his time in the Army. The hot springs by the Hobo Camp was a place that would heal our bodies from aches and pain of just getting older and from the injuries my husband sustained from the service. When the weather is warmer, we will catch crayfish in the Kern River and do a crawfish boil after purging them. The dads would catch trout, catfish, blue gills, and crappie at the lake while the kids looked for clams. During winter, our family would drive up the mountain and play in the snow until we were all tuckered out, then we would come home to a nice hot meal of home made tamales, or beef noodle soup. We cook a lot when we are here, so I keep my kitchen stocked with things we regularly use. We also have our own set of sheets, pillows, and blankets that we use when we visit.There is a doorbell camera and several cameras on the exterior of the property as well as a security system. Once guests check in, I know guests like their privacy, and I like to mind my own business I don't check the camera until check out day so I know when to inform my cleaners that the cabin is ready for cleaning.The bathroom is stocked with a starter set of toilet paper. If you run out, there is a Dollar General nearby. Guests are welcome to use whatever toiletries, hair, skin care, tampons, and saniatry napkins needed during their stay at the cabin, but please don't take more than you need to stock your own supply at your home.
