몬투시 마운틴 로지(Montusi Mountain Lodge)

My wife and I spent 2 nights in late February in a Garden Double Suite at Montusi Mountain Lodge as part of an extended holiday to South Africa. We can not overstate how much we enjoyed our time at Montusi. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and well appointed with a glorious view out to the mountains. The food was excellent with a good choice on the menu, grounds immaculate and a lovely swimming pool. We walked some of the trails on the property and joined the guided for the easy walk up Montusi Muntain. By chance our stay coincided with the full moon and a clear night when there was a short walk organised to a nearby dam where we enjoyed coffee and amarula. We were sorry to leave.

I'd recommend Montusi lodge to anyone looking for a a quiet, peaceful & comfortable break. The accommodation units are stunning with views of the Berg, the meals were so yummy, and activities on the farm or near the farm are bountiful. The staff were friendly & helpful. I'd go back in a heartbeat ! Thank you Lindsey for a wonderful stay.

Montusi Lodge will always be among the most special places we have ever visited. The grounds are gorgeous and location stunning - remote, with birdsong, epic views towards the Drakensberg amphitheatre and spectacular skies. The food is superb with a daily changing menu and we looked forward to 4 course dinners each evening (and exploring the wine list!). We stayed 5 nights and hiked every day, getting proper grubby by day and coming back to a very comfy suite with a great shower and comfy bed. The cottages all seem to be cleverly arranged/grounds landscaped to allow plenty of privacy.. We had opted not to self-drive on this holiday and were easily able to organise our own transfers between Jo’burg airport and Montusi. We used Shuttleking for these and found them very reliable. It took 4 hours. We were probably the only guests at the lodge without a car but this wasn’t a problem. Before we got to Montusi, Dumisani was super helpful with pre-organising transfers to the Royal Natal National Park (about 25km) which has world class scenery and great hiking. He also fixed for us to do the full-day Sentinel Peak/Amphiteatre hike via the chainladders. This experience eclipsed them all and the views were beyond words, but if considering it note that it goes up to over 3,000m and we definitely noticed the altitude. Shorter self-guided trails can also be done on the Montusi estate, right from the lodge. A really impressive operation for such a remote location and hosts Lindsey & Mick and their lovely team are to be congratulated. Thanks for making us so welcome and accommodating our thirst for the great outdoors.

A lovely family business lodge in the beautiful nature of Drakensberg. The rooms are very comfortable, the food is great and above all that take really good care of you! Everything has that special personal touch to it, we would recommend it to everyone!!

We have been many of the highly rated accommodations in the Drakensberg but this has been the best. The rooms are superb,with excellent mountain views. The food is delicious and the staff were friendly and efficient. The hikes were well marked, without jarring the landscape, and very scenic. Lindsay was an excellent host. We’ll be back.

This place is an absolute gem that the international travel community should know about! Very easy transfer from Durban (or Johannesburg) to get here (in case you don’t drive on the left like me); the highways getting here are very safe and straightforward and full of rest areas and stops. The entire staff at Montusi are excellent and really go out of their way to make your time and experience truly special at Montusi - from management to service staff. Truly amazing. Lindsay is an amazing manager. The property itself is absolutely gorgeous, and I could spend all day just walking around it. You don’t have to go far to have a great hike. There is an easy quick trail right from the hotel entrance that leads to bushman cave paintings with a spectacular view. I encourage the hotel to partner up with Wild Routes Africa for transfer services for internationals from Durban and Johannesburg, as that was an amazing and seamless experience with excellent customer service for us. There was another company Champagne Shuttle & Transfers that we were previously recommended that turned out to be an awful and terrible experience for us. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

What a fabulous stay for our anniversary- welcomed with champagne in our site, most delicious lunch, dinner was exquisite with kudu fillet, and breakfast was superb too. And we had a beautiful relaxing walk in the grounds, excellent birding with our 1st Olive woodpecker sighting right at the entrance gate! Highly recommended

Its an amazing place, the view is breathtaking, food was Devine, service amazing and staff friendly. Bird lovers will love the swallows and honey birds coming so close. Was an amazing amazing trip, was just to short.

What an amazing place to go to when you need your batteries recharged. It is tranquil, peaceful, beautiful and just what the soul needs. The staff are professional, friendly, helpful and just lovely. Food, ambience - everything was perfect. Even Oscar, the resident cat, makes you feel like one of the family. The quiet elegance and peacefulness restored my soul!
