햄프셔 호텔 - 처칠 테르뉴젠(Churchill hotel Terneuzen)

Great staff on reception, good breakfast and view from restaurant. Hotel itself feels basic and tired. The room was clean but smelt a little musty. Didn’t help that the weather wasn’t great for our 1 night stay but hotel and location just felt a bit grey and depressing.

I have stayed here several times over the past 8 years whilst traveling for business, and for some reason the quality has recently declined and as such I won’t be staying again, and will make sure nobody from my company stays here again. It is a very basic hotel, but always has been. However on the recent business trip there were two issues. 1) as a business hotel I would expect they could provide and iron and ironing board. They told me that guests have stolen these items and so they no longer stock them. I often see business men running away with spare ironing boards tucked under their arms (***?). I asked them to kindly find one so that at least on my second day of business meetings I could have an ironed shirt. They did not do it, later informing me at 11pm that if I wanted to I could go to their sister hotel across town and use their iron. Why they could not have gone to their other hotel and brought one over during the day makes no sense to me at all. Having an iron is a pretty basic thing - all airbnbs have them, so why not a hotel? Secondly, the pool is filthy. Look at the photos. People have even written “filthy” in Dutch in the filth gathered on the side of the pool. When was this last cleaned? It made me wonder that if this is the state of the pool, what about the rest of the hotel?

The location of the hotel is great. The hotel is very centrally located for various attractions. It is located near several shops, so you can always find something to do regardless of the weather conditions. The breakfast is excellent and always very fresh. Staff is friendly and happy to help you if you have questions or good tips for food. The rooms are fully equipped. Our mattress was excellent, but the pillows were large and super thick and quite hard, so we didn't sleep very well. Nevertheless, we had a pleasant stay at the Churchill Terneuzen hotel, formerly known as Hampshire for some. The shower was luxurious, very good with heat control and wonderful rain shower. Great name from the menu, wide choice of beautiful plates filled with very tasty food. As well as a lunch called 12 hours of meat and fish and a snack board, there were so many tasty things on there, highly recommended to eat in the restaurant, something for everyone, meat, fish, vegetarian, vegan...

Nice room (except for the dirty cup). Very nice people! Swimming pool very good, sauna also. Only one shower is not enough. The breakfast had a big diversity! Thank you very much for the glutenfree bread!

We enjoyed our stay at the Churchill Hotel, recommended by a friend who lives nearby. It was easy to get there via public transportation (#20 bus from Goes station to Prof. Zeermatt St. stop). Rooms are rather basic but comfortably furnished. Fabulous location right on the walking path at water's edge. Easy 10-15 minute walk to town center (even if it looks farther on a map!). Our rate included breakfast and the buffet was very nice with good variety. The staff was very welcoming.

For a couple of 100 euros I would expect more than a normal sized room with view to carpark, one tiny window that opens with no air con, none whatsoever but half a dispenser of cheepo shower/bath stuff, and thin towels. Dito cheep ded side lamp fell apart, which didn't faze the two persons who came to inspect and just left it hanging on, after shrugging their shoulders. Saving grace was the excellent diner in restaurant, although even there personnel could do with a customer service course.
