Stayed 6 nights in July. Service was generally excellent. Breakfast and dinner buffet dinners were very good - good quality food and very tasty, plenty of variety. Staff were thoughtful and friendly. Views from the hotel are fantastic, it’s very well laid out so almost all rooms have good views, and at sunset it’s very atmospheric. Rooms spacious, clean, attractively furnished and well equipped with fridge and kettle. Pool area and terrace is extremely pleasant, and there are lots of inside public areas to sit if you want (though these seemed barely used) with nice furnishings and interesting decorations and historical objects. Good pool table available for use at €5/hr. The beach of Agia Paraskevi is extremely nice and 5 mins down the hill. Things we didn’t like so much: the pool has too few loungers around it, and this encourages the usual behaviour of people draping towels over loungers to reserve them. Even an hour before the pool was officially open, half the loungers would be ‘reserved’. Twice we were unable to get anywhere to sit. Secondly the rooms at the bottom (floor 1) are very close to the busy main road and the outside seating / terrace can be a bit noisy. The day we arrived we asked very politely if there was any chance we could move because of the road noise and the receptionist’s first response was ‘if you shut the window you won’t hear the noise’ which really was a breathtakingly poor way to respond (was the only bad experience we had with the staff) but when we persisted she did reluctantly ask the manager if it was possible, which it wasn’t. Finally be aware that you are somewhat captive at this hotel. There’s not a lot else around - the beach, a tiny mini market 500m down the road. There’s a regular bus service to and from Skiathos town with many stops on the way; it’s a very good service but in the evening (eg 7-8.30) it can be impossible to get on because it’s already packed completely full.
