Scaleta Beach Hotel

An absolute nigh**are, DO NOT STAY at this disgusting, filthy so called Hotel, on arrival my room and my friends room stunk of damp & mould, no fridge in the room and that’s because we had a sea view? food was inedible unless you was a fly, plenty of them enjoying the uncovered, unlabelled trays of crap even the English speaking receptionist told us others had left the week before due to the conditions of this dump, we was offered another room which was identical to what we all ready had, this must of made the hotel (🤣🤣🤣) feel like they have helped us, exposed electrical cables, Light’s without safety covers broken tiles in the bathroom. We ended up booking air bnb for the remaining 6 days. If you have already booked, 100% don’t go, get it changed Message to Scaleta: I have read your reply’s to other complaints saying “all the other guests enjoy their stay and only complain to get a free holiday”’ You couldn’t pay me to stay here, filth.

beautiful views 10/10 fantastic staff 10/10 food 8/10 location 7/10 pool 9/10 all inclusive bar 6/10 just returned home after a great week in scaleta beach hotel stunning views and staff very friendly rooms a tad basic but fine , if u have mobility issues it's not the hotel for u far too many steps situated on a large hillside on the plus side fantastic panoramic views we loved our stay if u want to travel to a lively spot it's €1.60 on bus 20 min drive we enjoyed the experience bus no 20 to RETHYMNO buzzing city great night life . recommendations better all inclusive drinks package as a bit basic, and a golf buggy for lifts too and from beach or just up hill on way home would make the world of difference we went on a fantastic full day trip with the one man band spiridon tours the man is great drives coach then boat captain dance teacher and singer well worth the money overall experience 9/10

We've just returned from a week's stay at the Skaleta Beach hotel. If you've researched the hotel you will have seen it's build on a hill so if you have mobility issues this is not a great hotel for you. The rooms go even further up with more steps but for these steps you do get amazing views Any review is subjective so here are my honest thoughts : Staff : absolutely amazing. Friendly, smiling and always on hand. Food. Solid 8/10. If you want burgers nuggets and chips everyday, go somewhere else. Traditional Greek food with different selections of fish and meat every day. Superb salad bar . Deserts are nice, good variety. As a suggestion maybe including ice cream as part of the desert offer . Bar : beer, wine , soft drinks ,Ouzo and Raki are in the all inclusive. As a suggestion I'd like to offer perhaps Vodka and Rum to be included to make the drinks offer a little better /varied than what it is . Tea/coffee /cake times were good. The room : everything you need (free AC) and we had an amazing view over the sea. There's a little shop in the reception area selling some souvenirs, snacks/drinks which makes it easy to get your chocolate fix We loved our week at the Skaleta .. there were 4 of is (2 couples) and every single one of us agreed that it's a great 3 star hotel but with some minor changes it could be amazing! We bought bus tickets from reception (€3.20 return pp) and took the 20 mins bus ride into Rethymno. The bus stop is a 5/6 minute walk (steep down hill) the "climb" back to the hotel when returning was a bit tricky at times (especially when we'd been enjoying cocktails ) the walk to the bit of private beach is 6-7 minutes. Again it is a steep climb back. As it is adults only there's a quiet feel about the place and with the beatiful weather it was the perfect stay for us. The staff make this place beautiful. I can't say that anything let's it down more that some minor changes would make it even better

Firstly, I would like to say that staying at Scaleta Beach, I have never seen a more beautiful sunset in my life. Take a professional camera if you stay here, camera phones do not do it justice. The birds in the trees take flight and put on a lovely show just after sunset. Scaleta Beach was clean, rooms are clean, basic but you are never there unless to wash and sleep. Free air-conditioning. I hear people complaining about cold showers but this is only during the early hours. The shower is hot from early morning until evening. Pool is clean and bigger than it is on the pictures. Plus there is a smaller shallow pool to the right with more sun loungers which is quieter and just as refreshing. There is no complaint for me about the food, there was chips and pasta, puddings fruit, Greek dishes if you like to try, and if you are really picky, you can fill up on bread and butter, cereal. My highlight was the pudding, the baklava and the Greek yogurt with honey. The kitchen staff and chef made real effort to provide good tasting well presented food for all. The empty containers were quickly replaced with more food when empty. Irini was a delight she really went above and beyond to speak to us in the restaurant and all the staff cleared tables quickly and efficiently. We also found Manos to be friendly and polite at the bar and all of the reception staff were helpful and friendly. The rooms were cleaned everyday. The beach was very nice, I was shocked to hear bad reviews. There is a whole stretch of beach. I recommend buying sea shoes from the shop near by for 11 euros which makes it easier to enter the sea due to smooth pebbles just as you enter the water and also the sand is hot from the sun. (not complaining) a 5 min walk to the beach and there are a few sunbeds there if you get there early enough! The main town Rethymno is 40 mins away on the bus and cost 1.60 euro but you can buy these from reception and there is a timetable to show when the buses are due. All 8n all a fantastic holiday and a great hotel. It is what you make it and for a 3 star I was pleasantly suprised!

We were very concerned by the reviews before we arrived but do not believe all the reviews written and I'm glad we didn't. Yes this is a basic 3 star hotel but a holiday is what you make of it. Positives - Views are incredible, Staff we interacted with are awesome (Fiona, Manos & Eva especially), Pool was always cleaned and fresh. Rooms were cleaned on a regular basis. Bus stop at bottom of the hotel takes you into Rethymno which is great. Lots of shops, restaurants, bars etc Negatives - * This is definetly not a hotel for you if you can't cope with stairs. We counted one day how many steps it was from reception to our room, it was 456 steps which included 8 flights of stairs. * No coffee or tea making facilities in the room and no milk at the coffee/tea station at the bar. * Minimal options available for all inclusive drinks - Soft drinks, Beer, Wine, Raki and Ouzo. All other spirits and Cocktails are chargeable The biggest issue for us was unfortunately the air conditioning in our room. When switched on it leaks outside onto our terrace which meant it was extremely unsafe when we wanted to sit outside as where we were did not have the sun all day so we were left with an very large puddle of water.

It was amazing! The hotel , the vibes from people who works there and the view! Food is great also. I want to say thank you for especially Eva , Fiona and Manos who was making sure our stay was comfortable and taking care of us! If you want a nice holiday go to this hotel.

very nice budget hotel, most staff are lovely and only a 5min walk away from a private beach area. rooms are fairly standard (both of ours had 1 double bed and 1 single bed each) and all rooms have a sea view. HOWEVER, the only way to the rooms is to climb a lot of stairs- we were situated right at the top so we did struggle a little in the heat but as the hotel is on a hill i understand there is no way to put an elevator in. this would not be good for the elderly or disabled people however, unless you request a room closer to the reception. also, the young lady behind the bar did not have the best customer service. i understand working long hours in this heat is not the nicest, however as someone who also works in hospitality i understand the need to always put in 110% when dealing with customers. the food is lovely, varies every day but overall there was a range of stuff that my group enjoyed- i understand not everything will be to everyone's taste but don't come here expecting spaghetti and chips every day. overall, this hotel is a lovely place for a quiet week away as it's only a short bus/taxi ride to the main Rethymno town and has a lovely pool too. i genuinely think that the negative (recent) reviews of this place simply did not do their research or expected luxury. i can't complain, it was a lovely first place for a friends' holiday and we plan on coming back in the future.

4 of us (a group of 18 year olds) found this trip to have positives and negative’s. Firstly I’d say 3 start hotel 3 star experience. On the brighter notes the food was absolutely delicious I have attached pictures below If u are a picky eater there is always pasta available but if you love trying new foods like we do it’s PERFECT on the food front. Drinks wise they were ok rose red white wine beer raki and ouzo you HAVE to pay for cocktails, I wasn’t too mad about it but some people were! But universally around Crete the cocktail prices are the same which was great! Now onto the staff, all staff were lovely smiles apart from one girl behind the bar that obviously doesn’t want to be there and has absolutely no problem showing it! She doesn’t say a word to u before and after your order, whereas everyone else is happy to help. Now the bedrooms. My two friends booked the twin room which they received but my girlfriend and I book the double room and we had the same room with a semi double bed. Although it wasn’t what we expected nor wanted they were really comfortable but lacked in size. YOU MUST BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT we had mozzie bands did nothing I come home with 22 bites and they were so itchy so watch out for the mozzies. If you have mobility issues simply DO NOT come here, unless you can arrange to have a room closer to the pool. We stayed in room 420+ and it was a night mare to climb the stairs and everyday, if we were to come back again I’d request room 100-200 and to have the double bed room like we booked. All in all wasn’t too bad I’ve been to worse places but definitely been to better!
