아스펜 스위트 호텔 싯카(Aspen Suites Hotel Sitka)

After a week on the road......very nice, above average of what I call a 'plastic palace'....meaning, it lacks character, but it is a nice, comfortable place to stay. Beds, shower/bathroom, room size - all very good (in fact, the bed was kinda heavenly!). We all know how expensive Alaska can be, and this was no exception - most expensive place on our trip. Was it worth it? No, not really, but given that other hotels in Sitka are either close in price or even more expensive, I guess its just the norm. Bottom line: nice place to stay! And, I should also mention the staff - every one of them, and esp the female manager (dang it - didn't get her name!) - all very helpful and friendly. :)

There was bed bug traps in my room. I was told it was just a precaution but it still made me slightly creeped out.

We stayed here two nights prior to going on a American Queen Voyages cruise. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If you are a CPAP user they have distilled water for you! Nice feature as you will find everything in Alaska costs more. We appreciated having the kitchenette (Sink, Microwave, good sized refrigerator/freezer). There is a market about two blocks from the hotel. Not a huge market, but they had enough to get food for two breakfasts and a dinner. Saving you some money from eating out for every meal. There were some grumpy gus's on the cruise that were agitated that they hotel didn't have a breakfast spot. You have to remember that you are in a town that has ~13,000 residents. So logistics are different in this neck of the woods. If you need to be pampered at every step of your life perhaps you should not go to rural Alaska. Note: AQV did have breakfast catered in on the day of departure. The hotel is in a central location. City bus stop not too far away that can take you to the Fortress of the Bear and/or the Raptor Center. Much cheaper that paying for a cruise excursion, plus if you plan properly you can avoid the crowds that build at the venues when there are several ships in port. Just check the bus website before going, when the port is busy the bus schedule changes. Good hamburger place a cross the street. Pizza parlor will deliver to the hotel if you are too tired to venture out at the end of the day or if they weather is not to your liking. Within walking to Russian Bishops house, Sitka Sound Science Center and Totem park. Almost all flat sidewalk, so if you have good mobility you can do it.

We stayed at Aspen Suites the night before our AQV cruise. Unlike other hotels in Sitka, Aspen Suites does not offer any type of airport-to-hotel transfers, nor do they offer breakfast. In addition, the rooms have either one or two queen-size beds, no king-size beds. If you are choosing Aspen Suites, you should be aware of these limitations. Having said that, I should also state that the staff are very friendly, the rooms are clean, and the hotel is located near restaurants and shops.

Hotel was very nice and spotless, and the bed was fabulous! We slept great and the hotel was very quiet. But the best part was the amazing staff! Manager Holly called us while we were at the airport to report that housekeeping found my insulin and cold pack in the fridge after we checked out. She immediately ran it over to us at the airport!! We were SO grateful and she saved us an immense amount of trouble and money in the midst of our dream vacation to Alaska! Holly and her team are the BEST!!!

We stayed at Aspen Suites Hotel on our last night in Alaska. Although our stay was short, this Hotel was a great pick to wind down our trip. Our suite was spotless, roomy and comfortable. Location was excellent too - walking distance to most of the Sitka sites. I was thrilled to have access to laundry facilities. Staff was welcoming and helpful. It would have been good to have had easier access to a hotel shuttle to the airport. Aspen Suites does not offer a shuttle. That part was a scramble.

Only spent one evening, and would definitely stay again. Friendly, welcoming, and professional staff. Very clean room and everything I needed to cook in-room. Complimentary blood orange shampoo, conditioner, and lotion appreciated! Late checkout was offered when I queried about needing an extra hour.

We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is centrally located, an easy walk to many restaurants and sites. The tour pick-up area is a five minute walk away.

This was wonderful. Clean, quiet, nice towels, good location and very helpful and friendly staff. Couldn’t be happier with this choice. In fact, we left another property to come here and we’re so glad we did. Saved our trip to Sitka from being dismal to wonderful.
