"I came here with a coach trip, so many of us had to be accommodated at the same time but the small team at the hotel were prepared apart from at breakfast which was very slow. The hotel is dated and could do with a freshen up, it brought me back to the 80s. The staff work tirelessly between reception and the bar and will go out of their way for you. The entertainment was fun Fri-Sunday and got us up dancing especially Jules, who I loved. The hotel is located very close to all the amenities, which was fantastic. The thatched tea rooms highly recommend about 10 mins walk out to the left of the hotel. No lift if you have mobility problems so let the hotel know. Only thing I would suggest if keeping hairdryers in the rooms and toiletries such as shampoo and shower gel. Would I go back……. Absolutely yes, I had a great time"

"You might have an idea of what to expect from a hotel stay: to be greeted at the front desk, to have a bar and a breakfast service on the premises, to stay in a room which is serviced with fresh towels and clean linen... There's none of that here. We stayed for a week and some days saw no staff (there's a webcam in reception). There were tea and coffee making facilities in our room when we arrived but this was never replenished, the towels were never changed, the bed was never changed; the curtain was hanging off the rail; the bar downstairs was never opened. The website claims that breakfast can be booked for £10 per person but good luck finding anyone to book it with. There are a number of very pleasant hotels along Queens Road but sadly this isn't one of them."

"I absolutely loved my stay at Claremont. Jackie, the owner, made me feel very welcome. The room was on the smaller side but was very cosy, and perfect for my requirements. The bed was very comfortable. The tea/coffee facilities were excellent with extra options like Oat Milk, and Lemon & Ginger tea, a real pleasure to see, and a large bottle of water too. The Wi-Fi worked flawlessly, which gives me confidence that I could work from here if I needed to in the future. On-site parking was very handy - it took me seconds to get from steering wheel to bed - I was very happy about this. The ferry discount was a nice touch too! Breakfast was very enjoyable with everything you'd expect to find, the breakfast room was light and airy, and very welcoming. Much better than my experience at some of the chain hotels, where nothing is personable. I will definitely be back as soon as I have some time off!"

"Can highly recommend this bed and breakfast. Christine is a lovely host, friendly and helpful. The room and en-suite was nicely furnished, very clean. Tea and coffee making facilities with a small fridge and on arrival 2 pieces of homemade cake, a lovely touch. The breakfast choice was extensive and all beautifully cooked and presented. The homemade bread was a bonus ! Well situated for short walk to beach or town. Highly recommend. Thank you Ian and Shelagh"

"The week before we went on holiday our host, Rae, sent a really useful and comprehensive guide to the area including restaurants, as well as information about the apartment. The apartment itself was fantastic, well furnished with quality furniture and linens and a very comfortable king size bed. The kitchen had everything you would need for your stay. Everywhere was absolutely spotless and tastefully decorated. In a quiet area, the apartment was well placed for walks to the beach or the old village. I would highly recommend Fernhurst holiday apartments - book direct to get the best price!"

"This was our second visit to Westbury Lodge B&B, Shanklin. Isle of Wight. We travelled as foot passengers on the ferry from Portsmouth to Ryde Pier Head, then caught the train to Shanklin which takes about half an hour. Westbury Lodge is about a fifteen minute walk from the station. Upon arrival we were met by hosts David & Rosemary, shown our room and then had tea and coffee in the guest lounge. We stayed in room 2 on the ground floor for the second time, which is a thumbs up to the room itself. Breakfasts were excellent, plenty of everything. During our stay we walked along the esplanade to Sandown to the north and Ventnor and Steephill Cove to the south, where they sell crab pasties in the Crab Shed. An excellent find. Another walk later in the week was along the old railway line into Wroxall. The bus service is very good and you can get anywhere on the island without using a car. There are plenty of places to eat in Shanklin and Ventnor and you are spoilt for choice, one place in particular is the Ventnor Kitchen Bistro, for something a bit different. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Westbury Lodge and will return. Terry & Linda"

"This was a 2-night stay for work. Good communication with John before arrival. Provided with a paid parking ticket for the railway station car park (less than 5 minute walk) on arrival. I had a room 3 facing the garden, great room, comfortable bed, good ensuite, good TV and WiFi. Breakfast is included in the price, but due to my work commitments I had to leave before the timed start of breakfast of 8:15am. I was provided with Bacon sandwich and bottle of water for me leaving each morning at 7:30am - this is great customer service! Places to eat and take away within walking distance. Allowed to use the dining room if bringing food back - which was way nicer than eating in the bedroom."
