RIU Cabo Verde October 2024 Staff - Excellent. EVERY member of staff was friendly, helpful, happy, welcoming, always well turned out, totally customer orientated and great at their job Restaurants - Excellent. The food was varied, well signed and great for us vegetarians. The serverys and dining areas where clean, tidy and spacious. The staff in both areas were attentive very task focussed. Accommodation - Good. The room was tired, needing attention in the décor, the shower and the mini-bar. The shower came off the wall, first time we used it, was quickly repaired, but leaked at the lower joint and the sealant was mouldy. The minibar had no optics, which surprised the chap who brought us a fresh bottle of gin (we had to go to the bar, then reception for a bottle to be ordered.) The “maid service” was excellent. As with all the staff, they did a brilliant job and everyday it was a delight to see a new creation, made from the bed throw. Hotel - Very good. Everywhere was spotless, tidy and in a good state of repair. The chairs in the reception area were not too comfortable, low backs and long seats. It was good to have outdoor, segregated areas for smokers and non-smokers, albeit a bit too close together for us non-smokers. Disappointing that neither reception or the TUI App could give us a postal address for the hotel. I left a watch charger in UK and wanted it posted out, but was told that the hotel did not have an in-use address! Poolside - Good, but overcrowded. The lounger cushions are well worn. Most days, it was difficult, if not impossible, to find a lounger, there were too many reserved with towels and unused for most, if not all, of the day. We understand that the staff did begin to remove the early morning towels, but only hotel ones, personal towels/items were not removed. Obviously, leaving a lounger for lunch, it is acceptable to reserve, but there are many, simple systems that could be utilised to ensure loungers are not reserved for excessively long periods. Segregated areas for smokers and non-smokers would be most welcome for many guests, this being a common area of complaint from folks we spoke to. Sadly, the staff were kept unnecessarily busy cleaning up after guests, who chose to leave glasses at the edge of the pool and wherever they finished their drinks or even plates of food. On behalf of these guests, we apologise. However, the staff were always on top of this, for which we are very thankful. Beach – Great. Plenty of loungers, shade, attentive life guards, excellent bar service and the usual attention to tidiness. How many glasses can one guy collect, stack and return to the bar? It looked like a giant elephant tusk, must have been over a hundred. Entertainment - Great and disappointing. The staff were brilliant. The only negative about this holiday is that we had to come home. Everything was brilliant, the facilities were excellent. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the main restaurant was so good and varied we didn’t bother with the a la carte restaurants. We would definitely go back again.

Spent a week here with my mum and my 4 year old son in the Easter holidays. We booked to stay in the Sol Dunas but think we were staying in the Melia Dunas part. Its impossible to tell where one hotel ends and the other begins, it just feels like one big resort Top tip: soon as you arrive find out how to book your evening a la carte restaurants (when we were here you had to go to Odessy piano bar (inside) from 10.30am). They get booked up quickly. We only dinned in Atlantis and Sahel and both were great Childrens entertainment was excellent. Lollo and Bernie (plus Astrid and the other kids club staff) really made our holiday. My son loved them. The 5.30pm mini disco was a huge hit. I understand this (Lollo and Bernie program of events) has now all finished for the season although the hotel also had kids club facilities. Food and drink. ”Spices” is the buffet restaurant and ”Mosiac” (they are in the same building) is the part open for snacks outside of main meal times . We enjoyed the food. Ate salads all week and some of the meat. Did feel a bit samey at times but we could always find something to eat. You can also have lunch at Aqua which is pizza and pasta and is table service. So nice to mix it up and go there. The a la carte restaurants for evening meals also help provide variety. Coffee is best ordered at the bars, it doesnt taste nice out of the machine in Spices. We were also happy with the selection of drinks served in the various pool/beach bars Kids splash pool was another big hit and we spent almost all of our time here. There are some building works happening next to it but they do not disturb you Our room was large and clean. The houskeeping staff did a great job. Only issues (we did not raise this with the hotel at the time so they ve had no opportunity to address this and it didnt really bother us that much) the safe was temperamental it would lock but then sometimes wouldnt open! The plug in our bathroom sink was also a bit problematic, it would get stuck. If u were not careful the shower also flooded the bathroom. Had to be very careful to angle it away from the shower screen (that had a gap at the bottom). Overall we loved our holiday here and we are already discussing booking for next year (as long as Lollo and Bernie are there!!!) Biggest bit of feedback to the hotel would be: you need to make it easier to find out some of the information on restaurants, meal times, events, etc. The QR codes didnt really give enough. A sheet in the room or information pack would be helpful Thanks for a great holiday!

Firstly I would like to say Thank you to all at Rui Funana, It wasn’t the the smoothest of starts but the staff of Rui Funana were first class. After a 4 hour delay at Gatwick we arrived at Rui Funana just after midnight, we were checked in & offered for someone to take our bags, we declined thinking that it would just be quicker & less hassle to do it ourselves. We were given our room number. It was a short walk to block 8. Once we found our room we opened the door to find some guests already asleep in there. We closed the door quietly and laughed to ourselves how we must have got the wrong room, after double checking & the other guests locking the door for no more interruptions we proceeded back to reception to report that there were already occupants in the room. The staff on reception were very apologetic & upgraded our room which was a bit closer in block 9. The room was lovely, but after a couple of days we woke up on the Monday morning to a flooded bathroom, the air con system had leaked through the ceiling, we reported the fault & were told that it would be fixed (no stress) we went out for the day & came back to the room all cleaned up & decorated for our anniversary we went to one of the a la carte restaurants to celebrate our anniversary, we were made to feel special & we thoroughly enjoyed the meal & especially when the staff then sang happy birthday to my wife 🤣 great night. That night & the next we had the same issue with the air con system flooding our bathroom in the end the staff moved us to another room which had 3 bottles of Prosecco in the fridge. The staff were great they made our room up everyday with different towel arrangements & decorations. I said to my wife that you can tell how good a hotel is by the way they deal with problems, Rui Funana were first class ! We would like to thank all the restaurant staff, especially Jacira Cruz who made us feel very welcome and was so attentive, she is an asset to your hotel. Everyone works very hard at the hotel & are always happy & friendly. I’ve rambled on enough, I’ve even bored myself. Thank you for a fantastic holiday even with the adventures, we will be back xx

다른 호텔에서 조금 더 이동했기 때문에 위치가 훌륭하고 조용합니다. 해변과 거리에서 모두 도보로 약 10분이면 중심부에 도달하실 수 있습니다. 방은 항상 매우 깨끗했고 매일 두 번 확인했습니다. 다양한 선택이 가능한 훌륭한 아침 식사. 해변은 훌륭하고 깨끗하며 우아하게 울타리가 있어 호텔에 속하지 않은 사람들이 더 안전하게 이용할 수 있습니다. 나는 확실히 돌아올 것이다!
