The room was excellently furnished, modern and with all the amenities you could require. Couldn't fault anything about the space, bathroom facilities and access to our room. Location is really good, being very central to Val Thorens, which can't be said for a lot of the other high star hotels located at the very top or very bottom of the hills. Although very central, we had no noise pollution from the street and were only 1 floor up. Boot room within the hotel is excellent, dries your boots overnight and is very secure. Locker room for skis is down a short flight of stairs which is also very manageable and absolutely ok. Intersport is right next door, so if ski's are rented from there it doesn't get much closer and easier to do. Staff are friendly and simple to deal with, especially Sebastian. Unfortunately a few basic things take it away from being a full 5 star hotel: 1. The twin single bed option was a good option to be able to choose, however the single beds provided are remarkably narrow and small. Added to this they are quite uncomfortable and overall really quite difficult to sleep on unless you are a small kid. Although you cannot help the noise from avalanche clearance every morning, we found it quite difficult to get a good nights sleep in the hotel. This was surprising as there was more than enough room for slightly bigger/more normal single beds rather than a reduced size. 2. Although advertised as a ski in/ski out, it was not quite to your door as we expected. The morning is ok, with a very short couple minute walk to somewhere you can ski from. On the way home you have to walk along a road for a few minutes, up a lift under the supermarket then along and down to the hotel. Nothing to worry about unless you aren't comfortable walking in ski boots, but not quite a ski in/out as we thought. If it was advertised like this, we wouldn't feel the need to mention it in the review. 3. To be reviewed more thoroughly elsewhere, the hotel restaurant really is not up to the standards you would expect from a 4 star hotel. We dined once in the evening as we were only bed and breakfast, and the food was nothing to shout home about with small portions and fairly unreasonable prices. The breakfast was really disappointing, as it is not a complex thing to get wrong. The 4 hot food options were cold every morning, and really low quality/quite stale. Added to this, often cutlery wasn't provided, no milk at your table for coffee's and the staff were slow to provide things like coffee or mugs if you asked for it. The only good thing were the pastries, everything else was a bit of a let down. Overall the hotel is a strong 4 star hotel, and with slightly more comfortable bedding and improvements in the restaurant it could easily be rated as 5 stars. We did not feel let down when leaving, as we didn't expect to be writing a full 5 star review, but the hotel only needs to make a couple small improvements to really tick all the boxes.
