Have stayed several times before. It has what I am looking for: beautiful grounds, small boutique feel, with dining/bar on site, and typically very quiet (I eat early dinners and hit the hay early on these trips). This stay, however, I had several negative experiences. First, after booking online it took two calls (and over a week) to get emailed reservation confirmation. Then, the room assignment. In the first, lights from the valet parking lot came directly into the bedroom, directly into your eyes if you are in the bed. After politely talking to desk staff, I packed and moved to another unit, but was still on parking lots on both sides, with the outdoor patio (one of the main reasons I book here) facing the lot. Worse yet, when the neighboring unit flushed their toilet, it emitted a prolonged, loud drilling sound, enough to wake anyone. When I mentioned these issues, I was told that I had booked the lowest cost room type (at more than $700/night!) and in "my future stays" to avoid these issues, I should book a higher-level room. Finally, also at check out, I flagged a $100 drink tab that had been signed to my room from the bar that was not mine. From the tab and other detailed receipts they showed me, it was clearly three guys having late-night after-dinner high-end bourbons that either accidentally or on purpose got signed to my room. It took too much back and forth and me having to present receipts, review them and the signature on the tab (even continuing to email exchanges after I left) to get that removed and refunded. It is a lovely, historic place. If you are an older couple, or perhaps a male business/golf traveler, this is a nice spot if you spring for the more expensive rooms, or at least not the two that immediately abut the parking lots.
