Ajul Luxury Hotel & Spa Resort, a Registry Collection Hotel

After reading negative reviews prior to our holiday we weren't filled with confidence about our stay. We were pleasantly surprised by the resort & enjoyed a much needed peaceful and relaxing holiday. Most staff are very friendly, the hotel is very clean and modern and the view is beautiful. This is a new hotel only opening last year, so you have to see beyond some things and we see a lot of potential for it to live up to the 5 star rating. Some constructive criticism we would say is that it's a shame the main restaurant does not have outdoor seating. We love to sit outside when eating meals and you can only do so at the Ambrosia and Thimari restaurants which need to be prebooked. The food selection in the buffet restaurant is quite limited with hot food and often repeated. It would be nice to see some traditional Greek food on offer such as Moussaka or Pasticcio. Also the food needs to be replenished a lot quicker as we didn't see tzatziki at the buffet until half way through the holiday (a staple for us when visiting Greece!) As the hotel is built on a hillside, there are a lot of steps/hills and none of the steps have handrails, which we think should be added for safety of those who are less mobile. The hills not such an issue as you can ask for the golf buggys to come get you. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Ajul however.....the thing that would put us off from visiting again is the water park that is currently being built directly in front of the hotel, a bit of an eyesore to a gorgeous view in our opinion. Personally we prefer quiet resorts/hotels and the noise would ruin it for us. That being said, the hotel offers excellent facilities for all ages to keep everyone entertained as the resort is very remote! Hotel is stunning and spotless. Staff all very helpful and accommodating. Many rooms have private pools, which we booked and were fortunately upgraded as well. There are elements of construction still ongoing at the beach (should really have finished this as hotel opened in 2023) and a children’s water park at the bottom of the property, but neither bothered us. The hotel has been built into the side of a hill so walking around would be difficult if you have any mobility issues. There are golf buggies to take people around, but you wouldn’t want to have to rely on them to get about. Information is limited so you do have to ask staff a lot of questions, again not a huge issue, but if they didn’t want to publish literature maybe have an app. Because the main season hasn’t started during our stay the mini market wasn’t open so there wasn’t anywhere to get any nibbles for the room. A taxi to a local village was about €15 each way and we don’t bother. There are pools everywhere and no issue with sun beds. Towels are placed on sun beds but also available in lots of places. The beach is lovely, but as mentioned very stoney so takes crocs/similar (flip flops are useless). The food was not 5* at all, more like 3* and even though the main restaurant was 20%-30% full when we went you did have to wait a while to be asked for a drink order. Lot of salad options, but hot food options were limited. The main pool bar has cake and pizza options which are nice during the day. Bar options are quite limited with only 2 in the evening, but big choice of drink options. Where the hotel lets itself down is cocktails, which are all from pre-mixed bottles so taste very syrupy. Our last night was odd as they advertised it as the resort opening party (!) and the hotel chains top brass commandeered the Italian restaurant and main bar. There were no signs it was a private party and we were asked to leave ! The only other bar option was the pool bar where they’d advertised the guest opening party starting at 9:30. When we got there we were told 10:00. Not a huge issue, but again for a 5* resort there shouldn’t be a 3-4 hour window where all inclusive guests can’t get a drink. Overall we had a lovely 5 day stay and happily give a 4 rating. My only words of advice are to sharpen up on the points I’ve made above as I’ve looked at how much the prices are for a week in July and it’s over 4 times what we paid for 5 nights. At those prices people will expect everything to be perfect.

The hotel was new but not as we expected.. it was not fully completed .. The food was a little poor for a five star hotel. I would say for 3-4 stasrs but not 5.. Not to many choises.The beach is too far down and the worst ever.. bigg rocks and you cant even swim beacuse of them you can get hurt.. Still needs more to prepare.. there were no open shops in the hotel just one with fancy clothes.. not even a market nearby. Also the i door pool is with cold water for this season and if you are with kids. for kids is available from12-14-hour. you can use the outdoor pools wich sre with cold water too.. overall in this condition that is now the hotel I would not go there ever again.. it ruined our expecstions.

Nice new hotel, large beautiful grounds. Great spa. Rooms almost all with sea view. The restaurant has a great choice for breakfast and dinner. The beach is stony, but they said they clean and tidy it up. Very good service and staff. Enjoyed our dinnerwith Angela and antonis in ambrosia restaurant.

It's my third time doing holidays in Greece.This time we went to Ajul Resort and that was an excellent choice.The view in this place is really something else,very luxury rooms and great breakfast at infinity restaurant and excellent lunch also at Thimari.The pool is also very nice to have some drinks.Also amazing staff and thanks Panos from reception,Asterios from infinity and many thanks to Antonis who was always kind.

So devastated that this holiday didnt go as planned. 2 days before we were due to fly to greece, they contacted us and advised that they didn't open until 2 days after our arrival. The back-up hotel they arranged was then changed 3 times. It was extremely stressful and we were almost convinced that we wouldnt have a hotel to stay in at all. When we finally got to the hotel, it was horrendous. The staff were running around not knowing what they were doing and 90% of the advertised amenities were unavailable for our entire stay. It was very disorganised and certainly didnt provide the calm break we had anticipated when booking. We also booked a room with a private pool which were unable to use due to the pump and filtration not working, this may not have been a problem however it hadnt been cleaned and there was a worm at the bottom for our entire stay. Also, one of the men working to fix the pumps kept taking pictures of me whilst I was sunbathing. Out of the 2 restaurants that were supposed to be open, there was only one. The food being served was atrocious and not labelled at all, so you not only didnt know what you were being offered to eat, but allergies were impossible to cater for.

I’m sure the resort will be great once the work is finished. With the construction area making a lot of noice for the past few days, it is not really what you could call a relaxing Holliday. The continuous ‘beep beep’ of the machines driving next to our room and the drills are not the best sound to get a nap or read a book. A lot of details still need to be fine-tuned. The view is great when taking a walk and I’m sure in a few weeks the comments will be better. But for the moment I would avoid it.

Hotel and facilities are brand new. Everything you might expect is right there. Staff is very friendly & polite. There is a private beach very close to the hotel. Sunset view is really gorgeous. We had very relaxing vacations. Thank you Ajul!
