프라도 넥스트 도어(Prado Next Door)

The hotel itself was OK. But the reception system was not at the same building

Arrivo il venerdì davanti all’hotel e leggo che il check in deve essere fatto nella reception dell’hotel principale, cosa che va benissimo perché è vicino a 4 minuti a piedi, però con le valigie (e la pioggia) magari bisognerebbe dirlo prima così ci si reca direttamente lì. Arrivo in camera e il riscaldamento non funziona, chiamo in reception e nessuno risponde. Chiedo ad un amico belga di aiutarmi a chiamare ed esco per pranzo. Torno in camera e trovo una lettera di scuse ed il cambio di pile del telecomando. Il termosifone è solo in bagno e nella camera c’è un sifone per l’aria calda molto rumoroso - quello è prendere o lasciare. Quindi nelle notti che ho passato in hotel questo sifone si accendeva e spegneva (una volta raggiunta la temperatura impostata) sembrando di essere in una fabbrica, non sono state per nulla piacevoli dormite. Veramente rumoroso sia durante l’atto di riscaldamento sia il forte “tac” quando si spegneva e contando che succedeva ogni 20/25 minuti non era affatto piacevole. Bottiglia di acqua solo all’arrivo, bevuta quella bei giorni successivi niente acqua a disposizione. Contando che il sifone asciugava tantissimo l’aria al mattino ci si alzava molto assetati. La terza mattina alle 9.30 circa sento bussare e poi urlare forte, rispondo “what?” in inglese ma mi rispondono in Flemish che purtroppo non comprendo. Dopo due minuti ancora una bussata molto forte e ancora urla in Flemish io rispondo con “what?” nuovamente e di nuovo urla forti che non capisco e poi un “cleaning!” a cui rispondo con “later please” e sento un ok come risposta, sempre molto forte. Esco e torno la sera dopo giornata di lavoro e la camera non è stata fatta, la cosa mi tedia un po’. Secondo me tra tutto servizio molto pessimo di questo hotel. La camera non è male ed il letto comodo, doccia grande bagno pulito. Però sifone rumoroso di notte veramente insopportabile, l’opzione era dormire con molto freddo ma dormire, cosa che ho fatto l’ultima notte non accendendo il sifone. Rumore o freddo? C’era anche una minuscola stufa elettrica per il caldo, ma ovviamente faceva poco.

Nice, quiet and comfortable hotel in central Oostende. Kettle in the room is a plus, wifi works well.

We spent a lovely long weekend in Ostend. One can go by tram to Knokke near Dutch border or in the other direction to Panne near the French border visiting all the nice places on the way.

The Prado Next Door is a minute from the Prado hotel; in fact about a minute from most things. Great location whether you turn left or right from the entrance door. Big room, big shower, everything clean and everything worked; daily room cleaning/towels changed and supplies replenished and a lift. Hotel staff are professional, friendly and knowledgeable. We used the train (Ostend station 10 mins tops) and the Kust Tram from Marie Josplein (1 min) for everything. You need a solid base to enjoy your holiday and the Prado Next Door is most definitely that. The tourist info - a minute away - is a must for great advice.

Good value for money. Centrally located, clean rooms overall, friendly staff.

Such a really nice hotel, very clean and easy to access. Totally recommend. Linen and hotel equipment are great. Totally will recommend.

Good things : Nice, clean, spacious room with a fridge and coffee machine. Very good location, within walking distance to the beach and city centre, in a quiet street. Nice and friendly staff. Bad things : microscopic elevator and very narrow stairs which leaves no option for people XXL+ with much luggage. No glasses, plates or cutlery in the room, just two tiny cups for the coffee. Breakfast ok, but monotonous, every day the same and no scrambled eggs, baked beans or sausages on Monday (why?) City underground parking pretty far away and no information about it while booking the room which involves too much stress on the arrival for those who don't know the city. All in all, our stay was good and if we ever return to Ostende, we'll choose the Large Double Room at Prado Next Door;-)
