스파이서스 밸푸어 호텔(Spicers Balfour Hotel Brisbane)

We had tried all other QLD Spicers, so decided to now try Balfour. I was a little unsure about its location, but that was the big surprise : New Farm is a lovely area, with super easy access to the city, the river (with Howard Smith Wharves and ferries) and popular precincts. It turned out the best location to watch the New Year's fireworks. There are about 6/7 parking bays around the back of the property ; it is a little tight and we were lucky to get the last vacant spot. We had an easy, friendly check-in with Jack, Manager, who showed us to room 8 on the ground floor. The room is elegant and clean, but we found it rather cramped - which is not unusual for a city hotel. It had a tiny outdoor area with metal table & chairs. The bathroom had both rain-shower and bath ; all toiletries are plenty and super luxurious, which is standard Spicers fare. There is a small rooftop bar, seating probably no more than 20 people ; some mediocre views, but a very nice spot for pre-dinner drinks. Breakfast can be had outside on the veranda and is super sensational : healthy and delicious. The Balfour is truly a boutique hotel : small, very personal, friendly service, exquisite atmosphere, stylish and relaxing. That comes with a steep price tag, but occasionally one deserves to indulge . . .

After a good night sleep in a good bed, we discovered how lovely this hotel is. It’s located within a 15 minutes walk from the centre in a quiet part of the town. The employees are great: friendly, helpful, interested, just so nice 😍. And then, the cosy roof top bar…we had a lovely time! We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful property. The staff made you feel right at home from the moment we arrived to when we left. Big shout out to Murray for the care and chats. The homely, luxurious and spacious rooms and main building were perfect for our weekend away together, and walkable to New Farm, Valley Shopping, the river and DBC as well as the Howard Smith Wharves precinct. Highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Really good value for money if you get the breakfast & dinner included rate. Obliging staff, charming Suite accommodation, very good onsite restaurant that is worth a visit even if you’re not staying at the hotel. Great location!

I enjoyed our stay. Suggestions: 1. I do not understand why you don't have the larger Nespresso machine which uses the larger capsules and can provide a larger cup of coffee 2. the coffee capsules were not topped up each day 3. Water pressure in shower was poor

The hotel is a converted home which is quite unique but it is off the beaten path from the lights and activity of Brisbane, which I found disappointing. We were immediately upgraded to a suite in the "other building" which is another converted home about two houses down. My travel mate and I are both over 55 years old and it was a bit of a challenge to lug two large suitcases up a flight of stairs (no elevator!). The room was very generously sized with a lovely shower and soaking tub as well as a kitchenette with coffee maker, teapot and fridge. Our tours were early so we were not able to enjoy breakfast there and reception doesn't open until 8am. It was very clean and nicely appointed but after the caliber of our prior hotels, this one really did not measure up.

We had just such a lovely stay sadly only for one night at this gem of a hotel. The staff were so friendly, welcoming and helpful from start to finish. The food is amazing, we dined there in the evening. Go for the breakfast which was included in our stay, it’s fantastic! You may feel you’re out of the city but everything is much near than you think. Great rooftop bar to watch the sunset to end the day!

The staff at this hotel and the customer service are beyond exceptional! Special shout out to Elizabeth, Lara and Jerry for taking such good care of us, answering all our questions and providing great suggestions. This is a sweet boutique hotel and feels like home.
