Travelodge Oswestry

A Little bit too far out of town. Secluded with unlit car park. In need of some attention.

The travelodge is attached to a well known fast food outlet begins with b and ends with k this is not a bad review of the travel lodge but the land owned by the council so I was informed,the front of the travellodge and the entrance to the fast food joint is plagued with rats the size of my cat I kid you not they are in the plant beds at the entrance I was there last night Sunday 21st they are everywhere I had to go out to my van for my phone,I couldn't get out they were running everywhere.they are chasing food that people are throwing away from BK,I trued to video and photo them but they were too quick this is the truth they are everywhere if you go and you have pets or kids carry them rat urine is dangerous whilst disease is dangerous watch your kids and pets.i will never be there again it was shocking. Be careful people.i spoke to reception they were aware of the rats.

Rooms was terrible and so was the bathroom couldn't even fit in the shower or the bath just not impressed what so ever.

I really wouldn't recommend this Travelodge. We wished we hadn't booked it. Personally I wouldn't stay there if it was free. Some of the reasons why... 1. On the approach, we questioned if it was still open. The road in hadn't been cared for, for a long time and was full of pot holes, the sign was green. 2. The place smelt funny, the bathroom of our room stank - we had to keep the door shut it was that bad. When we got there the room was cold because the windows had been fully opened to air out the room. 3. The curtains and the carpet were dirty, there was also dirt on the walls and mould on the skirting board, there were multiple cobwebs around the room. 4. We were unable to use the shower as the cold water to the shower would only run for a few seconds, then it was as if it had dried up. The hot was too hot without some cold added. 5. The toilet barely flushed, it took multiple flushes to flush away even just urine! Each refill then took ages. The toilet seat was loose and moved around. 6. The lighting was poor, the fluorescent tube in the bathroom took about 15 seconds before it would start flickering, then eventually come on. 7. The view outside was quite nice of a field etc, but the Travelodge's grass has rubbish on it and even an old chair upside down. I honestly don't think I've ever stayed in somewhere so grim, the worst thing was the smell. The corridor seemed to be vacuumed by a robotic vacuum, but the thing never moved.

After reading other reviews about the hotel I was slightly apprehensive about my visit. Yes the car park isn’t great, but forewarned is forearmed and I’ve been in worse. My room was dated, but perfectly clean and tidy with a comfortable bed and plenty of room. The bathroom again was clean and tidy, due to the location of the hotel, I would use again if I return to the same area next year

We used this hotel because of its proximity the orthopaedic hospital at Gobowen as we had to be there for 7.30am the following morning. It was ideally situated for this purpose and was clean and comfortable. As l had to fast in the morning the lack of a breakfast was not a problem. An accessible room on the ground floor was also a bonus.

Although the car park needs updating (after several long wet winters what road or car park doesnt need it) the hotel itself was exactly what we expected. Rooms were clean and had all we needed, everything worked as it should. Staff were very friendly and helpful with taxi numbers and any questions and there was extra tea etc if we needed it. We didnt realise we could bring pets until we saw staff making a real fuss of some doggie guests - we will make sure we bring ours next time! We had the breakfast box as there is no cafe / restaurant on site - it was exactly what was pictured on the internet when we booked - and on posters in the hotel - good basic start to the day - there is also a Burger King next door and an Asda garage / mini shop too - we had food delivered in the evening and the staff were again great helping with that for us as the door is locked for security during the night. We read the reviews after we had booked and were worried - but honestly didnt need to be - it is not the Ritz and nobody booking a Travelodge should expect it to be - but it was really good priced, room was clean and comfortable - we will be back!

Avoid this Travelodge the car park is a death trap. Deep water filled potholes everywhere a rush to your public safety. Expect damage to your vehicle there's no means to avoid them. Also most of the lights are out.

It was a very nice place to stay, much bigger room than I thought it was going to be, the shower was really good, the whole stay was amazing and not far from the hospital which is great, would definitely stay again
