메리트 하우스 인(Merritt House Hotel)

We have a great stay for a wedding event- excellent customer service. It’s walking distance to restaurants and other places.

The place is noisy. I could hear everything happening in the room upstairs. TV is a DirecTV. This is a common problem with hotels. I would prefer if they just let me use my Netflix or Google account. There are some reviews saying that parking is free. But it isn't. They charge additional 15USD per night.

The bed, linens, and pillows were very comfortable. The location is very walkable to the wharf and if you are into longer jaunts down to cannery row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We logged 15,000 steps in one day! The building is not what is pictured in the photographs- the majority of rooms are in buildings around the original Merritt House. The vaulted ceilings and fireplace were awesome. However, the room smells of the chemicals from the prefab logs they give you. Be aware there is not an elevator so you will need to lug your bags up two short flights of stairs to get to the second story.

This little hotel is a close walking distance to the wharf and various businesses, including a great crepe restaurant less than 2 blocks way. The service was excellent and staff was very friendly. Super clean, with a quaint little breakfast room, filled with pastries and various easy food items.... If you want old style, this is the place.. Small, cozy, and even had a nice fireplace.

This historic landmark hotel is very charming! We stayed on the second floor in 2 rooms, there were cathedral ceilings and working fireplaces in the room with double French doors onto a balcony overlooking a beautiful small courtyard. The room was immaculate, the decor cute and brand new. Tiles, counters and fixtures all quality and brand new. Smelled great no mildews smell. The included breakfast was convenient, the parking was a bit tight for our minivan rental but again super convenient.

The hotel was beautiful and in a great location. There was a fire place in the room and the hotel provided the fire log and matches. The breakfast left something to be desired, but it was included in the stay.

Very cute and quaint inn, feels very homey and the rooms have high ceilings and immaculate bathroom/shower area. Just unfortunate that the walls are paper thin, both nights I stayed at room 15, I was woken up by my neighbors.

What a great place to stay. Rooms were really great much bigger than expected. Our room had a fireplace and they give you a complimentary log to burn. The location is also great. 5 minute walk to tons of restaurants, coffee shops and the warf. Bonus that it’s a very nice older place with history. Next time I’m in the area I’ll stay here again for sure!

We really enjoy staying at the Merritt House (our third time). It is convenient (walkable) to almost everything in Monterey. The historic adobe and garden at the center of the hotel property is a cool feature, too - stay in it, if you can! The other rooms are all nice, well decorated, and comfortable. I recommend an upstairs room with vaulted ceilings. Very convenient to have breakfast on offer and the staff are all lovely and helpful. We'll be back!
