"The house benefits from a stunning location with views over meadows, sheep, and a lake. A historic property undergoing ongoing restoration. The lake-view room was spacious, with good beds and, as an added bonus, heated blankets. Breakfast was okay, but with one type of jam and scraped, dark toast, it was rather untypical for Ireland. Dinner for €70 consisted of a tartlet with mushroom ragout, a chicken pan with mushroom ragout and vegetables, and blueberry cream. (€70 per person) – we wouldn't book it again. In Ireland and Scotland, we got more top-class cuisine for this price; we ate comparable food elsewhere for €25. The need to maintain the property simply drives this pricing policy."

"We give 5 stars to Collon House located less than an hour’s drive north of Dublin airport. Our hosts Michael and John made the whole experience delightful. The house is a period Georgian structure, exquisitely furnished with large, comfortable rooms, and a magnificent garden. Breakfast was at the guest’s request and could be anything from a full Irish to a simple continental. It is what an Irish country hotel should be. Michael and John can provide advice on and suggestions for places to visit such as the Pre-historic burial grounds, formal gardens and local pubs and restaurants."
