super old hotel although the location is it is not near underground when you have many luggage

Quite the experience, great price and value for the money

We booked this hotel months ago. When we checked in, they tried to charge us more than it should have been, but we had taken a copy of our booking with us, so the amount was corrected. When we checked out, they tried to charge us for room service we hadn’t had. When that was removed from our bill, they again tried to overcharge us, a different amount from the amount when we checked in, so again this had to be rectified. The rooms are big with plenty of storage space. We booked a deluxe king room. The room we were given was an accessible room, so had the red emergency cords. The toilet was very high and the bathroom top where the basin was, had partly come away from the wall. We couldn’t turn the bathroom towel rail off, so reported this to reception around 7pm on the first night. Nobody came to sort it out, so we reported it again the next morning. By 10am it still hadn’t been fixed, although it was turned off by the time we got back in late that afternoon. The bed wasn’t a king size, it was 2 singles put together. We could feel the ridge in the middle from the edges of the mattresses. We reported this to reception the first morning. They said it would be sorted, but it wasn’t. The covering on the handles of the bedside drawers - one was missing and one was hanging off. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We had dinner on our second night. As my partner needed gluten free options, we were given the allergen guide. The meals listed on the allergen guide weren’t the same meals as on the menu and some items on the allergen guide were not marked as containing gluten when they did (eg - Bakewell tart). This could have resulted in serious consequences if we hadn’t noticed. This was our second visit, the first visit was much better. We won’t be returning.

We didn't really know what to expect from the experience in the hotel and were pleasantly surprised at every stage of our visit. We have been to Manchester on several occasions and we were making the visit to attend a large cultural event at the nearby AO Arena. The car park was easy to find and use. When we arrived, there were plenty of spaces to choose from. It felt very secure. Although check in was busy, we did not have to wait more than 30 seconds. The lady who checked us in was very apologetic for the delay. There is a grand atrium style entrance to the upper floors with some lovely pieces of art work. We didn't use the spa facilities on this visit but would consider doing so on a different occasion. The room was spacious and clean. There were a few signs of wear and tear but nothing significant. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. The products in the bathroom area had a lovely smell which stayed far beyond a shower experience. The room felt like it was the size that all hotel rooms really should be! We had food and drink in the bar and lounge in the afternoon. The food and service were outstanding! The atmosphere cocktail was enormous and delicious. This was a similar experience in the morning during breakfast - exceptionally high quality and standards. We were very impressed by the whole experience!

Friendly staff, clean rooms, spacious. Food in River restaurant was fabulous as were breakfast options in the morning. Seemed quiet overall in terms of queuing for food/reception. Would have given 5 stars but despite calling in advance and mentioning it at check-in top about a special birthday, nothing was done. This was rectified during the day (although nothing particularly special; when we came back in the room there was a plate with some chocs/a message). Used gym which was small but quiet and well equipped. Also paid for a yoga class which was relaxing but I was expecting it to be more yoga than relaxing but that might be me misunderstanding the class. Used spa, fab. Would go again for sure especially if on offer.

We haven't been for a while but we fancied a treat for ourselves after lots of hard work these past few months. The Lowry never fails, we felt welcomed and the room we had executive room was luxurious, all refurbished since we last came, the room was warm and very comfortable, we didn't want to go out for evening meal so we ordered room service which was quick and the cob salad and chicken sharing board was absolutely delicious. We had a great nights sleep and we also decided to have breakfast in the room too and English breakfast was very generous and the pastries were wonderful. We booked with secret escapes and it really was worth every penny with the parking also within the price. We can't wait to come back. It was a kind of anniversary for us as it was the first place as a couple we stayed together back in 2007, bought back alot of memories for us and the good times back again, as we had been swamped with work which took over our lives, thank you The Lowry for helping us to remember the good times.

Stayed for two nights, but wasn’t overly impressed. Booked a Deluxe King, then paid for an upgraded view a few days prior to arrival. The hotel is clean, but the minimalist approach to design leaves the hotel room feeling very sparse and empty. Nothing on some of the walls, simply whitewashed. It appears very cheap. The bed, as I later found out, is some kind of zip together bed? why I don’t exactly know, but I found it to be lumpy and bumpy. It certainly didn’t seem to match the experiences reported by other TripAdvisor reviewers. The bathroom was fine, clean and functional, but again nothing special. The Air-conditioning in the room was excessively noisy, but necessary as the room heated up rapidly and needed the cold air and the airflow to make it feel pleasant. Used the gym shortly prior to checking out, with that also a huge disappointment. A small after thought of a gym, that clearly needs attention and relocating to a larger space. Due to the price paid and the claims of being ‘Manchester’s Iconic Hotel’ (as per their website) I found myself underwhelmed. I may very well be nitpicking, but having stayed in high quality hotels across the world, this one just kept missing the mark.

We stayed in an executive king on the 1st floor, having booked through Secret Escapes on a reduced rate to attend a concert at CoOp Live. The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious and to a high standard with a cupboard area, coffee making and room safe and a great view towards the canal. The bed was lovely and we both slept well. The included breakfast was very good with a lot of choice and all very fresh with attentive staff. The included car parking was in a secure car park in the bottom of a building immediately in front of the hotel. We couldn't fault our stay although the little jars and packets of tempting nibbles in the room were rather pricey so we didn’t try any. We did however purchase one late night drink in the bar on our return to the hotel after the concert.
