Everything was perfect during our 3 night stay. We had a nice sized room with a view. The restaurant was outstanding both at breakfast and dinner. We had only planned to only eat there the first night, but the food was so good and the outdoor terrace was so nice we eat there all three nights.

This is a wonderful hotel located near the station - many rooms have lake views. The staff are fabulous. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms, and an overall delightful experience. We stayed for 3 days but without other plans would have happily stayed for longer.

Hotel Federale is in the sweet spot where it’s steps from the train station and easily walkable to everything downtown. Breakfast is wonderful, too. We had a balcony room looking out to the mountains and the beautiful buildings in town. The staff is exceptional and extremely helpful. Giuseppe mans the front desk at night and gives great recommendations for fun outings, and also makes an absolutely stunning special *****ni. I will be scanning for flight deals so that I can go back as soon as humanly possible!

The perfect place to stay in Lugano. Family-run, the staff are just so welcoming and, for Switzerland at any rate, it’s good value. I stayed for three nights and had dinner each evening. The four-course ‘menu’ is exceptionally well priced at SFr 44 (£37) if you book half-board. The food was delicious and served in copious quantities. Drinks prices are also inexpensive by Swiss standards. The hotel’s location, a 5-minute step-free walk from Lugano station, is also excellent. The hotel building is quite old but the facilities in the public areas and rooms are thoroughly up to date. I’d not hesitate to return. My thanks to all the staff for their care and welcome.

Conveniently located next to the train station check-in was quick but found out that WiFi wasn’t working and only one key. When working WiFi is slow. Disappointingly we only were informed of paying city tax at check-out so could not use the benefits such as free city bus transportation. We would have appreciated it to have been informed at arrival. Especially as Lugano was experiencing nonstop rain. Apar**ent felt a bit worn. Upside - close to city center and cathedral.

Review for Hotel Federale Lugano We came to this hotel late one night after missing the last train to Lucerne. Immediately we were welcomed by the warm Guiseppe who graciously accommodated us. He was polite and comforting. The room he left us in was very clean and nice, with a balcony that overlooked the city. Since we are three, Guiseppe even brought in a third bed for us even though we could fit in the large bed in the room. Overall, we were very lucky to find such outstanding service and a fantastic place to sleep. Will come back and highly recommend with its nice view and closeness to the train station!

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. I liked this hotel also for the location accessible to lugano stazione. I would like to commend the gentlemen in the front desk during dec 13 to 15 of my stay. I forgot to get their names. I would recommend this hotel.

I visited Lugano mid April, along with a friend, and we stayed at the Hotel Federale for 4 nights, and loved every minute of it! The hotel is literally a 5/10 minute walk from the train station. Ours was a very comfortable superior room on the 5th floor, with an absolutely breathtaking view of the lake as well as the mountains and the church. We had it all! The breakfast is essentially European and well laid out. We had all our dinners at the San Lorenzo restaurant at the hotel, and they were all delicious. The staff at the Hotel Federale is very friendly and helpful. In particular, I’d like to call out Fernando at the restaurant. He’s the sweetest, most gentle person. In addition, Paolo Ongaro, Andrea Bonsari and Sergio Falciola at the Front Desk are always ready to help and very friendly. The Hotel Federale is a family run hotel, and that I’m my opinion makes all the difference. Thank you for making our visit to Lugano so very memorable. I’ll be definitely returning!
