호텔 빌라 라 프린시페사(Hotel Villa la Principessa)

An absolute gem of a villa - or palazzo? - it's in a tremendously peaceful and beautiful setting. Fascinating architecture and friendly staff, fine buffet breakfast with gluten free bread etc on request. Not terribly easy to find the entrance at night - but that is honestly my only criticism. It's a perfect base to explore the area from, a short drive to Lucca (park outside the walls and walk in). If we visit again we'll spend time in the grounds and enjoy the swimming pool.

I can not tell you how amazing this hotel is. 12th century villa. Stunning. Grounds are gorgeous. Location is perfect. Close to both Lucca and Pisa and Florence. Free breakfest was great. Rooms comfortable. Bathroom newly renovated. 10-10

Etwas abseits gelegenes Hotel an der Straße von Pisa nach Lucca. Sehr großer Park und eine alte Villa, die toll und stilgerecht eingerichtet ist. Auf viele Details wird geachtet - eigenes Farbdesign für jedes Stockwerk zum Beispiel. Die Zimmer sind in verschiedenen Designs dekoriert. Allerdings erschlägt es einen, weil Tapeten, Türen und Vorhänge alle in einem - großen, intensiven - Muster sind. Bei einem längeren Aufenthalt wäre das echt zu viel! Alles sehr komfortabel. Das Fenster war winzig - eben so, wie es früher war. Da wir uns wunderbar in dem herrlichen Park aufhalten konnten, war das kein Problem. Das Personal war freundlich und engagiert. Ein bisschen mehr Sauberkeit hätten wir uns gewünscht - die Teppichböden zeigten doch hier und da Spuren von Flecken, Getränken u.s.w.

Si trova in una posizione ideale fra Lucca e Pisa. Parcheggio facile e reception 24 ore. Grande parco dove passeggiare all'ombra e una piscina con acqua rinfrescante - e finalmente non ghiacciata come molte altre!! Gli spazi comuni sono meravigliosi, con tanto spazio all'esterno per godere della natura e, all'interno, arredi originali per sentirsi in un'altra epoca. Consumazioni al bar economiche e una colazione veramente eccellente, con scelta di salato e dolce. Tutto il personale è stato cortese e sorridente. A differenza di quanto scrivono sul loro sito, le camere non sono affatto rinnovate o, quantomeno, la nostra tripla era senz'altro più vecchia di noi! Molto spaziosa e luminosa e, per quanto grande, l'aria condizionata efficace. Un po'instabile la temperatura dell'acqua, attenzione per chi ha bambini piccoli, e il sapore dell'acqua sa di tubi vecchi, ma poi le bottigliette dal minibar non ci sono state fatte pagare.

We stayed here for 2 nights with a bus tour group. The location is a bit out of Lucca but in a very picturesque location. There was a pool and pretty garden areas but we were unable to use the pool because of very short hours. The main villa is very beautiful and common areas were interestingly decorated. Our room was in the annex and was small with trees right outside the window. The decor was very dated and the bedspread looked like it was from the 1970's. The room was dark and uninviting but appeared clean. The shower/tub worked well and the bathroom had better lighting. We had dinner here one night with our tour and the food was not very good. Service took forever, and I gave up on dessert and went to bed over sitting there for more than 2 1/2 hours. Breakfast was decent with a lot of choice, but the room was crowded with a poor layout for serving. It was a unique location but rooms could use a major overhaul.

Probably our favourite hotel anywhere. It has a gorgeous swimming pool and charming garden, delightful service and light and airy public rooms in a historic villa 5 minutes drive from Lucca, 35 minutes (or less) from Pisa airport. We have stayed here perhaps 20 times over the years. It's worth while paying for the better rooms in the villa itself - they all have something unique as well-being more spacious. We never regret it.

The Hotel is a hidden gem in Tuscany. from the moment you step in you feel at home ..We were only able to stay one night but. Felt like it was a week. Great location and lovely pool and gardens but the secret are the staff.The manager Laura and her colleagues are exceptional people, who are in charge of a historic villa. The rooms are wonderful, each different and the quality of the food, service and overall experience makes this Hotel one of the best.We look forward to coming back! Thank you

L' hôtel Villa Principessa est un endroit vraiment exceptionnel, presque un miracle où survit une vraie tradition hôtelière qui a presque disparue... D'abord c'est un beau bâtiment de la Renaissance, avec un joli jardin dont une exquise allée de gardénias qui mène au petit déjeuner ou une pergola de roses anciennes vers une grande piscine, comme on en fait plus, avec une bonne profondeur. L' endroit est calme reposant avec une clientèle agréable. Le personnel est particulièrement aimable avec naturel, sans formatage hôtelier international. Le restaurant est de bonne qualité et le petit déjeuner à l'avenant. Mais ce qui est particulièrement agréable, c'est l'a**osphère élégante et surannée de l'hôtel. Méfiez-vous des commentaires vulgaires qui se plaignent des vieilles salles de bains, ou du décor défraîchi et démodé ! Certaines installations sont anciennes, certes, mais l'hôtel est très bien tenu et entretenu, à l'intérieur comme à l'extérieur. Effectivement ici, grâce à Dieu, aucune "décoratrice d'hôtel" milanaise n'est venue tout remettre en beige et gris avec tissus ignifugés et lithographie abstraites... Aucun "communiquant" parisien n'est venu vendre "une histoire à raconter ", "un geste architectural fort" ou tout autre concept grotesque... Les chambres et les salons ont le charme suranné des hôtels que vous avez peut-être connu dans votre jeunesse, dans les villes thermales ou les paradors et qui ont tous subi un lifting désolant. La Princessa résiste et garde ses rides et son charme et nous l'espérons, pour longtemps. Un grand merci à toute la charmante équipe ! PS : L'hôtel a été choisi en son temps par Luchino Visconti lors du tournage de " L' Innocent" son dernier film, véritable catalogue des belles villas lucquesiennes. Bonne référence non ?
