휠 토르(Wheal Tor Hotel & Glamping)

Lower your expectations and open your wallet. Many things in the room don't work, bathroom fan, shower head kept flying off, broken window doesn't open the handle just spins, no where to hang cloths with the two sainsbury plastic flimsy sad little hangers, dirty tea tray covered in dust and hairs, single towel hook broken, bugs on the floor by the toilet, cheap tatty see through paint job smeared over dirty walls, paper thin walls, shabby worn carpets, disruptive green ceiling light flashing all night, dirty bar area, filthy floor. Their prices for room and food are wildly over ambitious for this standard of presentation. Not a recommended experience.

We stayed in one of the hobbit huts for a long weekend, it was really good.. the huts are very basic but everything you need inside including nice bedding, coffee, tea kettle etc. The toilets and shower facilities are also fine and very clean! The owners made us feel very welcome and the food they serve at the pub on site is of a great standard! We will definitely be booking to go back when the weather is nicer as that was the only downfall for us which couldn’t have been helped :)

Had an absolutely amazing stay and dinner at Wheal Tor hotel. The rooms were clean, welcoming and very dog friendly as you could open your back door directly onto the moors. The setting is just stunning. Perfect for couples or families with views to die for and the outdoor seating area is just fantastic. I came for my birthday with my partner and two dogs. They were made most welcome with treats, cuddles and water on tap being brought to them by the staff and owners. The location is amazing and the owner gave us great directions for our morning walk over to Minions via a pool for the dogs and some amazing engine houses. The food … what can I say. It was stunningly presented and not at all what I expected when we booked. It was so reasonable priced too, I’ve already recommended it to lots of my friends. We were told that they are undertaking work on the premises, so can’t wait to see what it will be like when we next visit (oh yes we’ll be back!) Thank you for an amazing stay!

A truly enjoyable stay on Sunday night. Having lived in the area and used the Wheel Tor as our ‘local’, it was good to return as guests. We were welcomed like long lost friends and enjoyed a delicious dinner, followed by a good night’s sleep and a wholesome breakfast. We will be back

Went to wheal tor hotel for a birthday surprise had a lovely stay in an amazing room, great facilities amazing views. Food was absolutely lovely with lovely staff. Also booked my wedding there for next year. Very welcoming and highly recommend.

Wonderful friendly, welcoming proprietors. We stayed for one night. Food was exceptional! Evening meal and breakfast! Cannot recommend it enough. Very clean, very accommodating, really peaceful. Will definitely be back.

Finally got round to using a voucher from red letter days here and it really was perfect, really nice and friendly staff and perfect location for exploring and getting amazing views of good old Cornwall!! Room was perfect for what we wanted well lit with natural light from the window and door with a cosy setting, nice bed and ideal for what we wanted. Bathroom was clean and modern, shower had a few low pressure moments but other than that was ideal for the short two night stay. The food was perfect, full English on both mornings was perfect to start the day, nice quality ingredients used too. We had a three course meal one night that again was absolutely spot on, really good choice of menu options so you have plenty of choice with a good specials menu too, as for the desserts that are home made were outstanding too, the staff were even kind enough to wrap our brownie and sticky toffee pudding up to take back to our room to relax with. Honestly can’t fault anything and would 100% go back again 👌

Excellent place to stay for lovely walks on the moor and super views from the rooms and dining areas and bar. The rooms are lovely and cosy and we slept like logs, The food is a real treat. The staff are super efficient. Wheal Tor is a gem and we highly recommend you visit.

This pub and its food is the jewel in the crown that is Cornwall. The presentation, quality and standard of food is sublime. The staff are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is like relaxing in a cotton budded luxury of real Cornish home grown hospitality. A word to the wise, it is the highest pub in Cornwall in a UN heritage site, so yeah, some roads are rough. But you know what, if you can make it here you’ll have the best experience ever.
