The Good: This property is like an oasis in Lecce. There is a beautiful, shaded, garden area where one can read, relax, or enjoy a sumptuous breakfast. Our travel agent booked the apartment for my husband and me since we were staying for one week. It was spacious and the decor was quirky with colorful tile. The Bad: After carting our luggage up a long, steep staircase, we discovered the air conditioning was not working. Anna, from the front desk, came up and noted that the thermostat had a red, flashing light and read "error". We ended up spending 5 nights of our 7-night stay in an apartment that was 27-28 degrees C (80.6-82.4 degrees F). The Ugly: At no time were we informed when the air conditioning would be fixed, offered any alternative to the accommodation, or offered aid for the hot apartment. To add insult to injury, we were charged an additional 30 euros upon check-out for bottled water. We were hot, uncomfortable, and trying to remain hydrated. No one informed us that there was a charge for the same water that was provided free at breakfast. Had we known that, we could have easily purchased water at a local market for much less. When we asked the young girl at check out to be reasonable, she replied "I just work here." Our travel agent followed up and was so dissatisfied with the hotel's response that she is taking them off her list of recommended properties.
