Hidden away in the heart of Yum Balam Flora y Fauna Nature Reserve, this boutique resort property with a 4 by 12 meter-swimming pool sits on two acres of lush tropical gardens full of fruit trees, blooming flowers, and organic vegetables. On the outskirts of an ancient Mayan Village and surrounded by jungle, Casa De Piedra Solferino offers plenty of space and tranquility for you to recenter and connect with nature. A collaboration of international designers and local craftsmen/artisans allowed Casa de Piedra to become a unique space it is today. Adhering to ancient art of Mayan stone masonry that dates back to pre-Columbian era it took over a year to create space mindfully. We stove to respect local styles and techniques, while also adding our own contemporary sensibility to the creation of La Casa. Utilizing reclaimed and sustainably sourced materials from the reason, La Casa thus features minimalistic interiors that are also reflective of local building traditions. As a result, the house is abundant in natural materials such as repurposed Vista Maya stone, exposed wood beams, polished concrete walls, floors with embedded riverstone and grass (zacate) roofs. La Casa received its name when local villages began calling the emerging structure by its most distinguished feature: it was skillfully built of reclaimed Vista Maya stone. Suites: The spacious Vista Maya suite is located on the ground floor of the main structure and features 5 meter high ceiling, king size bed plus a loft space that can be used as a yoga/exercise or as an additional sleep space. Adjacent is a large spacious bathroom with an open shower. The Palapa Suite features a zacate ceiling/roof, queen size bed and a bathroom with an open shower. It also has a small seating area with two chairs and a table. The glass doors open into roof terrace overlooking the pool and the garden. Casa Jardin is a sepetate structure surrounded by bloomong plants and trees. It has a full size bed, a suspended day bed, a table and a bathroom with outdoor shower. The simple kitchen extends outward onto a large space covered by the palapa with grass roof. Livingroom is adjacent to the Kitchen and has a large diningroom table, coffee table, two built in couches and a small desk. Two oversized glass doors opens into the pool area. Ottimo ristorante fronte mare. Unica pecca mancia obbligatoria del 15%su qualsiasi servizio. Caduta di stile a mio avviso quando arrivati per il check in non avendo il tassista da cambiare 500 pesos e non accettando neanche la carta per il pagamento ho chiesto all’hotel che mi ha prestato 200 pesos. Chiedendo di mettermeli in conto sulla camera hanno ricaricato del 15% il costo.

La zona es algo alejada del centro, pero tiene convenio con dos beach club muy próximos donde vale la pena pasar el día o ver los atardeceres.

Don’t stay here is you expect to be close to downtown. It’s at least a twenty minute walk to downtown, including if you just need a quick drink from a convenience store, and having to take a taxi each time quickly adds up! Don’t even think about walking to and from the hotel after sunset as the mosquitoes will eat you very quickly (you won’t even make it half way). Hence, I sort of wished I picked any hotel closer to downtown as I believe their premium is worth it just on this fact alone.
Don’t stay here if you want variety with the included breakfast. The complimentary breakfast will have you searching for the rooftop entrance across the street, climb the stairs to be presented three preset breakfast options; omelette or scrambled eggs with either cheese or ham or pancakes. Granted, a bit of fruits and yogurt is included along with the eggs, but it’s pretty basic. Though I’m not complaining when you get to have freshly prepared breakfast on the rooftop overlooking the Holbox white beach! Just don’t expect much nor to have a variety of options. But it will get the job done! Breakfast was 8:30-10:30am and we hung around past that to enjoy coffee on the rooftop WIFI.
Don’t stay here if you are expecting a good pool experience. The two small pools on the property aren’t running all the time so it doesn’t look appealing to get into.
Don’t stay here if you are expecting a view from your hotel room. You won’t see any bit of the ocean - just the hotels in front and behind this hotel.
We upgraded from the Double Room to the King suite and really glad we did because we got a nice balcony and comfortable bed with plenty of different pillow options. We also looked into upgrading to the King suite with bathtub option but glad we didn’t opt for it as the bathtub didn’t look appealing and just took up all the living room space. We wish the rooms were a bit more spacious, with perhaps some living room furniture, otherwise you just get a basic bed with nightstands, TV with basic cable and basic bathroom. The water pressure was good and quickly warmed up. The room AC was great and didn’t need to be run long. The issue mainly was the poor insulating as we heard out downstairs neighbours and likely would have heard whoever was across from us if there was anyone. There was no safe or iron in the room unfortunately.
If beach clubs are your thing, there are three decent options very close by. We checked out “HAU” beach club directly across from this hotel. This beach club didn’t have a minimum, had a generous happy hour (4-7pm), but unfortunately we got diarrhea after their mojitos. Although they were delicious mojitos so it’s hard to regret it.
I primarily booked this place to get a great spa experience and they exceeded my expectations. Thus, based on this experience, this hotel deserves nothing less than five stars.
I also can’t forget to mention the hotel staff were incredibly helpful during our stay. Shoutout to all the concierges and especially including Mateo, Almira and Marianna in the reservations department!

리리뷰어Primero tuvimos muy mala suerte debido a una tormenta que dejó muchísimo SARGAZO en la playa del hotel, lo que hizo imposible disfrutar de las instalaciones en la orilla del mar. Estaba todo sucio y el mal.olor era insoportable. Tuvimos que ir a otros hoteles y pagar por el uso del club de playa. Hablamos con las personas de administración acerca del tema del sargazo y de no poder usar la playa y no hubo alguna compensación por los gastos extras. Ni un descuento en el bar del.hotel, al menos para estar en la piscina, ya que en la playa era imposible. Es muy frustrante pagar un hotel en la orilla del mar y no poder hacer uso de este, el valor que se paga es mucho más alto que un hotel en el centro. Realmente no les importa que los huéspedes se sientan cómodos ni bien atendidos.
Otro punto importante que no tiene que ver con el sargazo son las camas. Tiene un colchón tan duro que no se puede descansar y las almohadas muy planas. No pude descansar bien ni un sólo día.
Es segunda vez que me alojo en este hotel, pero creo que será la última. Fueron 5 días en los que no pide descansar bien, no pude disfrutar de la playa y además gasté mucho más dinero del que imaginé.
