"We have stayed here for three years in a row and each year we have increased our stay duration by a day. We now stay for four days and thoroughly enjoy the set up at the Lofts. All you need in terms of drinks and food are on hand in the hotel however there is a real openness to have the same at outlets in the immediate vicinity. This is largely achieved by the architecture of the historic building. Each time we arrive we find a new innovation: this years supply of bottles of Corona for sundown was much appreciated!"

"We spent three nights in room 1 of this fabulous little guest house on a steep hill overlooking the knysna lagoon. Our room had a patio with two sun beds and two chairs and a table. The patio was next to the main one and not private and could be noisy at night when there were other guests back from dinner sitting outside. However the view was perfect and you could see the Knysna heads from your sun bed. Although the room could have been more comfortable ( a sofa instead of two modern chairs, more table space and a bathroom door that reached the floor!) the air conditioning worked well and the staff went over and above to make our stay perfect. They were incredibly attentive and tried to make sure we had everything we could need. Breakfast was amazing - they gave you whatever you wanted. There was complimentary tea and cake at the sister property every day between 4 and 5 and complimentary happy hour for drinks between 7 and 8 which was the perfect start to the evening. The staff cleaned the room while you were out, topped up the complimentary fruit bowl and left chocolates and an after dinner drink for you at turndown for when you returned from dinner. It is possible to walk down the hill into town and although we did walk back up once, a taxi or uber is more sensible! The owners were very friendly and I think they do an amazing job. We really enjoyed our stay and would thoroughly recommend this lovely boutique hotel."

"I stayed one night at Russell Hotel. I’m actually a Knysna local but moved out of my house and was inbeween moving. Busi is amazing!! The Lady at the front desk… she actually does everything… checked me in, took me to my room, explained everything, greeted me by name when I arrived and in the morning when I came down for breakfast. She helped me carry my bags & she organized breakfast for me. What a super star employee!! Happy, friendly, helpful. The Russell Hotel is blessed to have her. The room was lovely… breakfast included always a bonus 😊😊 Yay for Busi!!"
