"From the moment we entered The Thinnai, we immediately felt on our ease. The staff is so nice, helpful and welcoming you with a genuine smile. Our room was very clean, with a lot of space and airconditioned. Breakfast was delicious and provided a wide range of various kitchens (both European and traditional Sri Lankan). And dinner was also very very good! There is also a bar with very tasty cocktails (both traditional and signature cocktails), but underneath it, they have a little corner where they serve several typical Sri Lanka drinks and sweets. We went there before the cocktail, and afterwards went eating. Great way to end the day! We mentioned when we checked in that it was our 1 year wedding anniversary, and a few hours later a beautiful flower bouquet with “HAPPY ANNIVERSARY” on it was lying on our bed. That was already so nice of them! But then, the same evening, they surprised us with a wedding cake after our desert. We were so very happy with their thoughtful kindness. In short, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Thinnai in Jaffna!"

A few rooms with minimum comfort, small, tastelessly furnished. No decoration. Air conditioning, fan, television. Clean laundry. Very small but functional bathroom. The villa is far from everything. As it does not offer meals, you have to go to town by car if you want to eat. (on foot it takes 30 minutes one way). Breakfast is minimalist. The driver who was staying there was not even allowed morning tea. Damage"

"My clients stay at Valampuri Hotel in Jaffna was extremely disappointing. The hotel was shockingly dirty and clearly not well-maintained. The cleanliness standards were well below acceptable levels, with unkempt rooms and common areas. Additionally, the service was abysmal. Staff members were inattentive and unhelpful, showing a lack of professionalism and courtesy. Overall, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone considering a stay in Jaffna. It was a regrettable experience that left me feeling thoroughly dissatisfied. The lack of cleanliness was not confined to our room; it was evident throughout the hotel premises. Common areas were unkempt, and cleanliness standards were well below acceptable levels. This was deeply concerning and not in line with the standards one would expect from a reputable hotel. Furthermore, the service we received was disappointing. Staff members appeared inattentive and unhelpful, lacking the professionalism and courtesy expected in the hospitality industry. Their demeanor only added to our dissatisfaction with our overall experience at Valampuri Hotel. As a result of these issues, I regret to inform you that I cannot in good conscience recommend your hotel to anyone considering a stay in Jaffna. It is imperative that immediate action is taken to address the cleanliness issues and improve the quality of service provided to guests. I urge you to take this feedback seriously and implement measures to rectify the shortcomings we experienced during our stay. Your prompt attention to these matters would be greatly appreciated and may help prevent similar negative experiences for future guests."

"A few good things to mention is that ithe rooms had two double beds which meant there was ample space for a family to stay. The room and bathroom was fairly clean except for cobwebs all over the upper walls and ceiling. There was hote water in our room but one of my friends who stayed in a neighboring room did not have a water heater so it would be wise to check before staying. It's in a fairly good location from the town and there is parking in the hotel grounds for your vehicle. There was some loud music played till a bit late. Overall, an average stay but may try a new place next time we visit Jaffna."
