Kasteelhof t'Hooge is a nice family run hotel close to Ypres and actually in the middle of what was a WW1 battlefield. The original house was rebuilt in the 1920s. There is a big amusement park behind it but it wasn't an issue. I can see it being noisier in the summer months with the windows open but no issue in October. The rooms and hotel are a little quirky but everything is very clean, the beds are comfortable and there is good water pressure in the shower. It takes a minute to find what is the little bar/restaurant within the hotel as it's not really marked but I was also jet lagged. There is an annex building that is new, which looks like a doctor's office but I would still recommend staying in the main building if you like historic and charming. There is a nice patio and walk around what was the battlefield but it was too rainy and cold to enjoy. The food in the restaurant/bar was good and they had a nice selection of wine, beer, etc. Breakfast was included and was very good - everything was fresh and not much processed breads, etc. If you are interested in WWI, this is a good spot to feel in the middle of history. Loved the comfy down comforter and slept very well. It's not a Marriott or other chain so if you like those, this probably won't appeal but I was very pleased with my stay. Would definitely stay again.

Room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was good, although buffet did not include any hot food. Hotel is situated right next to World War One trenches, craters and cemeteries. It is also a short drive to Ypres, for more on World War One.

The food was very tasty and good value, only downside was when we visited the restaurant wasnt open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for evening meals. Breakfast is fantastic though, a very varied choice and you can eat as much as you like. Rooms are lovely with very comfortable beds, the rooms are serviced every day.

Nice place. Warm welcome and the rooms were clean, tidy and spacious. Breakfast was nice, a good selection of continental foods and awesome pastries. It’s clean, friendly, charming and better than many 3 star hotels I’ve stayed in. Very short drive to Ypres as well. Recommended, will return.

We were visiting Ypres and after a bit of research this looked like one of the better places to stay with the bonus of it being outside the town centre meaning we didn’t have any issues with parking. Upon arrival we had a warm welcome at reception. The room itself was a bit old fashioned but was in tune with the style of the area. It was a rather large room so plenty of space to spread about - same with the bathroom. The room did however lack some basics however such as tea/coffee making facilities, hair dryer etc. The bed also wasn’t the most comfortable one we’ve slept in. Breakfast was ok. I’m not a fan of continental breakfasts so you’ll never hear me rave about them but we knew this was the breakfast they offered at the point of booking so can’t hold that against them. Location wise though it really is perfect. Less than a 10 minute drive from the centre of Ypres, walking distance from the Hooge Crater Museum & 5 mins driver from Sanctuary Wood so perfect for those wanting to explore some historic sites.

Beautiful old style building and very nice garden at rear. There is a new annexe, but this is very modern architecure which unfortunately doesn't go at all with the original building. There is an interesting parc at the side of the hotel with WW 1 artefacts. Interesting. Rooms with plenty of space and very quiet, so a good nights sleep is guaranteed! There is a restaurant, but the menu is limited - and very expensive. 19 Euros for a shrimp omlette! For other eating possibilities you must take the car and drive into the town. Breakfast buffet is simple but adequate
