This place is described as dramatic and that it is! The granite peaks, towering domes are incredible, their formations and size really do take your breath away as a scenery to be surrounded by and stay within. We loved this place and the lodge, so very well designed to work with the natural environment, the pool very cool! The chalets are very nice, spacious and well designed with lovely verandah. And a little buggy can take you there too! The food was definitely the best we ate in our time in Namibia, considering the isolation of the place for getting fresh ingredients, the creative 4 course meal we had each evening was delicious, really very impressed! staff friendly and you get a '3 stop' tour for free to see rock paintings and the famous rock arch. Very lovely place and perfect ending to our Namibian holiday (hence toasting the trip with a rose sparkling from SA! watching the sunset and reflecting on what an amazing country this is.

The drive into the lodge is wonderful as is its location, the scenery is stunning. The lodge though is not so good. Our welcome was dreadful, by a local man only interested in selling tours and explaining how the tipping should work, this his primary concern and it was very irritating. The tours themselves were scribbled on a blackboard like some third rate pub signage. I think all the cabins are the same, somewhere between a tent, a mobile home and a cabin. They are perfectly ok but definitely not luxurious. Caravanning really. The main lodge is weary, not very comfortable and the food the worst we have had on our 3 week trip. I doubt there is much choice in the area and this lodge is ok, but don't get your expectations too high.

This lodge is beautifully nestled in the Spitzkoppen mountains, and is a slightly otherworldly setting - one of the coolest places we stayed in Namibia, and the staff were all lovely. The rooms were very stylish and comfortable, with lovely bathrooms and balconies, a fridge, a safe, some welcome snacks and just about everything you’d need. Only downside is that it was one of the only places we stayed where there is no air con. This is understandable given the remote location but it might have been good to have a better fan in the room as it was very hot and the one they had didn’t really cut it. The windows do have good insect screens so you can keep the windows open, it was just too windy for that when we were there. The restaurant, bar and pool have excellent sunset views, while the rooms have beautiful sunrise views. We did the small bushman rock art tour which was enjoyable and the sunset drinks afterwards were a real highlight. We’d definitely recommend this lodge.

We stayed here for only 1 night at the start of our road trip around Namibia this year. I regret not staying longer. Everything from the moment we were greeted by the staff with a cold towel and welcome drink (much needed after 2 x 8hr flights, a 2hr hire car pick up challenge, and a 3hr drive!) was fabulous. The rooms were accessed by a golf cart which took you and your luggage to the remote valley on the east side of the Spitzkoppe. The landscape is just awe-inspiring as was the sundowner view before dinner and the food as well. Excellent food (3 course evening meal and good variety of breakfast goods too). The rooms were spacious with a fabulous balcony and plenty of amenities in the well appointed bathrooms. There are plenty of activities including self- navigated walks around the area, hence we will definitely be coming back to this lodge in the future when we come back to cover another part of the country.

Progressing along the (very bumpy) approach to the lodge, you begin to see the stunning vista surrounding this hidden outpost. We arrived at sundown and were greeted by two zebras, chewing hay against a backdrop of colorful rock formations. There was a mixup with our reservation, but the lodge was able to accommodate us without a problem, and our guide greeted us cheerfully and explained the following day’s activities before driving us to our cottage. The drive in an open-air cart found us among ancient monoliths that were impressive during the day but absolutely breathtaking at night as we walked through them on our way to dinner. There were carefully placed lights to showcase the natural beauty of the rocks and remind us that we were but infinitesimal humans among nature’s giants. The multi-course, set-menu dinner was chicken, with a highlight of a delicious cool mint and cucumber soup. The pace was relaxed, and the walk back to our cottage was the perfect after-meal activity. The room itself has a bathroom with a separate WC, and the bed (and linens) were comfortable. Note that throughout our stay in Namibia the king-sized beds were actually two twin beds pushed together. The highlight of the room was the deck, where we sat to view the stars and listen to the hyraxes’ conversations. The following morning we participated in a hiking activity that took us up a chain ladder to see the Bushmen’s Paradise cave paintings. I recommend wearing gloves for the chain ladder for a more comfortable climb, but others were just fine without them. Our guide took us up slowly, but it is an activity that requires some strength and a moderate level of fitness. The views of rock formations and cave paintings make the (fun) trek worthwhile! The stay at the Spitzkoppen Lodge was enjoyable and memorable. Even though we were able to stay only one night, we highly recommend a visit!

Carefully designed to melt into the scenery, has a 5 minute walk or golf buggy will take you to your tent like lodge. Each separate from the other so you can appreciate these amazing surroundings feeling alone. Fantastic view of morning sunrise direct from the spacious comfortable bed. Or out onto your private terrace. Each room equipped with everything you could want or need. The main lodge has great views for sunset and lovely terrace and pool set into the rocks. Good set menu, with some of the best food we’ve had on our 2 week trip.

During our journey to Namibia for two and a half weeks we stayed in nine lodges. At the end of the trip we called with my husband three most favorite lodges, and only Spitzkoppen lodge entered both our shorts. In Spitzkoppen lodge combines several factors that make it an unforgettable place to return. First, amazing in beauty and exotic terrain, as well as the architecture of the lodge, which is ideally fit into the landscape. On the site of the hotel it is written that it is built so that to cause minimal harm to the nature and landscape, in case of necessity can be quickly dismantled and after three months nature will again be as before the lodge. We liked the privacy of each of the houses. They all are located far away from each other and all are turned east. Accordingly, after awakening you immediately see the sun, shining orange rocks with a quaint light. Our house was the far and ten-minute walk to the restaurant and reception area among the rocks, along the paved bridges and this walk was one of the most amazing impressions of our experience. On the way, they’re on the rocks lie rock dassies, which apparently so accustomed to the human here that only lazily raise heads when you are near them. We saw zebr herd from our house. At first they rode and played, then came close - there is a small waterhole for them. We also saw Klipspringers, Rock Monitor, Rock agama and Banded Mongooses. The restaurant and bar give separate bright impressions too. They are westward, and whatever the sunsets all over Namibia, such as here, we have not met. It's like a theater. Right on the rocks next to the pool are sofas and chairs, turned to sunset, and it was very nice to have other guests of the lodge come specially early before dinner, drink aperitif and look at the amazing performance of nature. The food in the lodge was a special impression, it was very tasty and, moreover, beautifully served. The girls waitress were the most cheerful and welcoming of all the boats. We have enjoyed China tour, on which we were with experienced boat guide (however keep in mind that it needs a good physical form). The water in the Lodge was so delicious that we filled our bottles and took them with us. During our stay, the weather was perfect - it was neither too hot and not too cold, without wind, so we didn’t met the problem of the slamming roof. We hope we will come back one day. We spent only one night here (sadly) during our trip to Namibia last month. We arrived late morning to be warmly welcomed by Abraham. We were shown to our amazing chalet on stilts with beautiful views of the desert. After a great lunch and some down time (much needed after all our travelling) we were driven out to see the San art paintings and Rock Arch in the immediate vicinity by our lovely guide Benny followed by yet another amazing sundowner experience. Saw zebra and antelope in the immediate vicinity and many beautiful birds. Supper was excellent and loved the location and the walkways constructed to enable you to get around the site. Room and bathroom excellent - would highly recommend.

Firstly, you are only staying at this hotel because of the area it's in, and it's the only hotel in that area. For that, it's a solid 5/5. You have no other choice if you want to stay overnight in Spitzkoppe (and not camp), and indeed it is an amazing area to see. The location of the hotel is a real wow, and the property itself is quite nice, uniquely and sustainably built into the ground. They even had a fantastic (but small) infinity pool, seemingly carved into the rock. The rooms were nice and comfortable. Not luxurious, but very nice. The staff were good, but not great. They seemed to lack some of the training and enthusiasm that we found in other hotels. There were 2 areas where the hotel really fell short... the first was communication before the stay. They were incredibly unresponsive by email, Instagram and WhatsApp. Especially in Namibia, it's so important to have dialogue with the hotel before arrival, and here, it was impossible. A simple thing for them to fix, but for now, it was non existent - to the point we were afraid we would show up at the hotel and they may actually be closed. Fortunately, that was not the case. The second shortfall was with the food... they tried to make it 'special', but it really was very poor quality and execution. Normally at a lodge in Namibia you would look forward to the meals, but not here. Very basic, trying to be something special, and not coming close. Overall, to see the area and have a comfortable nights sleep, and amazing photos of the pool and the sunset, I'd stay here again. There's no other choice, and they do try. But, there's certainly room for the hotel to do a better job giving people the experience they're paying for and raising the bar in a couple of areas. Oh... one more thing... there are Zebra's around the property, which we saw when driving in and out. That was an unexpected wow!
