"I would advise anyone planning to book this hotel to think carefully. Although it is advertised as a five-star hotel, the customer service and the way our reservation was handled were extremely disappointing. We originally booked two double rooms for 27, 28 and 29 June. We paid the full amount of LKR 360,000 through Boundless Travel Company for a two-night stay on a full-board basis. Unfortunately, my mother accidentally injured her leg, so we were unable to stay on the original dates. As the full payment had already been made, we contacted the hotel, explained the situation and requested a change of dates. We were initially told that we could reschedule our stay within one month. We then requested 25, 26 and 27 July. The hotel first agreed to these dates but later changed its decision. We were told that a foreign wedding would be held at the hotel during those dates and that they could no longer accommodate us. The hotel then asked us to choose another date, so we proposed 15, 16 and 17 August. However, those dates were also rejected because the hotel claimed that it was the peak season. Later, the hotel asked us to provide a medical certificate for my mother’s injury. They then said that because we had not submitted the medical certificate within one week, they could not accommodate us. However, this one-week deadline was never clearly communicated to us when we first requested the postponement. If this was an important condition, it should have been clearly explained from the beginning—not introduced later after the hotel had already accepted our full payment and asked us to select alternative dates. For clarity, we have no complaint against Boundless Travel Company. The company was only involved in arranging the booking and processing our payment. We are confident that the problem lies with the hotel and the way it handled our request. We are mentioning this clearly because we do not want the hotel to avoid responsibility or attempt to place the blame on the travel company. Despite paying LKR 360,000 in full, we were neither given the accommodation we paid for nor offered a fair and consistent opportunity to reschedule. The hotel repeatedly changed its response, rejected the alternative dates we proposed and introduced new conditions that had not been clearly explained earlier. This is not the level of customer service or professionalism expected from a hotel advertised as a five-star establishment. We are simply asking the hotel either to honour our fully paid reservation on a mutually acceptable date without introducing further unreasonable conditions or to provide a full refund of LKR 360,000."

"이번 여행에서 우리 가족이 묵었던 방 중 가장 넓은 방이었습니다. 방에 들어서자 놀랍게도 더블 침대 하나, 싱글 침대 두 개, 그리고 소파 두 개가 있는 두 개의 방이 있었는데, 여러 명이 편안하게 지낼 수 있을 것 같았습니다. 우리 방은 1층에 있었고, 바로 옆에는 커다란 수영장이 있어서 정말 편리했습니다. 시간이 부족해서 30분 정도밖에 이용하지 못했지만, 물이 아주 깨끗하고 수심도 딱 좋았습니다. 호텔은 야생동물 보호구역 안에 위치해 있어서 원숭이, 다람쥐, 그리고 다른 작은 동물들을 곳곳에서 볼 수 있었고, 심지어 수영장 옆에서 소들이 한가롭게 풀을 뜯는 모습도 볼 수 있었습니다. 중국 호텔에서는 보기 드문 경험이었죠. 호텔은 드넓은 인도양과 접해 있는데, 맑은 날에는 바다가 정말 아름답습니다. 다만 해변 자체는 평범해 보이고 파도가 꽤 큰 편입니다. 호텔 내 레스토랑은 특별히 언급할 만한 가치가 있습니다. 음식은 훌륭했고 가격도 합리적이었는데, 특히 스테이크와 새우구이가 맛있었습니다. 사파리 투어가 끝난 다음 날 아침에 아침 식사를 할 수 있지만, 10시 30분에 끝나니 서둘러야 합니다. 아침 식사 자체는 꽤 맛있었습니다. 전반적으로, 경험해 볼 만한 호텔입니다."

"Minimalistic hotel rooms well located off Silent Beach in Tangalle. Nice communal pool and a small amount of rooms makes the villa quite tranquil and never busy. The staff are wonderful and the chef cooks delicious food which is all very reasonably priced. I just recommend you stay away from beef in this country as it’s quite inedible, this seems a common theme whether you’re buying a cheap burger or an expensive beef dish. The only detractions to the accomodation was a foul odour emanating from the shower in the mornings, but it did dissipate thereafter. Also I find there is little point of an in-room safe if it isn’t bolted to the ground. You can literally walk in and pick the safe up and exit the room making it redundant. Rooms are well appointed and well priced for the area given the two luxury alternatives are the Amanwella resort which is quite dated and much more expensive and the Anantara Peace Haven which is more expensive but also a fantastic product. The local beach here is beautiful. I would stay here again, but I expect rooms will be hard to come by as the country lacks 5 star resorts at this time. I would stay here again no doubt and recommend the property."

The hotel is reached down a long unmade track which would challenge the suspension of all but the hardiest 4x4. The beach is un-swimmable, for all but the best and bravest of swimmers, thanks to a sharp drop off and a rolling swell. The lakes behind the hotel are a breeding ground for particularly vicious insects. The architecture is Dubai meets Sri Lanka and lacks an understanding of the importance of proportion and detail Not bad, but not worth a detour."

Pool and rooms enjoy stunning views over the ocean and sunrise. Its a short walk to the beach which was largely deserted: certainly no beach side bars. Swimming didn't look safe to us on the main beach beyond the breakwater. There is a simple, small beach side restaurant about 1 km away - lovely walk down deserted lane. Tangalle beaches are 30 min drive - fine if you've got a driver. Great place if you're looking for somewhere a bit "off grid"."
