Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani

The service was really great. Their staff is helpful. However the rooms are old. My aircon was not working and the stopper in the bath tub didn’t work. I was quite disappointed by that.

The place was absolutely amazing!!!the stay was great, room was great just a bit dusty but it was a pleasant stay. Will be coming back. Breakfast was also excellent

What happened to the Maharani hotel....needs to be downgraded. reception was not well manned. Basics not provided in the bathrooms...3 hours later had to go down 16 floors to reception as the phone in the rooms did not work....no wifi the whole week. Broken latch on door was never attended to after requesting for it to be fixed. No water provided on the rooms...we don't drink Durban water out of the taps..Entire hotel need a facelift especially the rooms and built in cupboards. For what is supposedly a highy rated hotel it serves a very basic breakfast....I've had better at a City lodge and Holiday Inn Express

Southern Elangani Great location, great view, good breakfast spread, 2 restaurants on site, great room service and excellent food . The lamb chops butter chicken, steak are well done and tasty Our initial room hand non operational ac, doors etc and luckily they upgraded and moved us But The most disappointing is the housekeeping.. we were on a triple occupancy and it took repeated calls to get a third towel, also to get basics like soap, toilet paper, and water on day one. Post that I gave up as housekeeping did not think they had to top up water, tea, coffee milk.. something to watch for. If u are staying here, flag this bit to guest relations on day one.

Excellent service. Well received by F&B Mr. Moses and the excellent lady Ms, Nelly. Ms. Nelly you made out stay at the hotel memorable and very pleasing. You were outstanding. Great thanks to Ms. Grace the manager on duty for assisting our complaints in the most diplomatic manner. Thank you for your patience, excellent service and friendly assistance. You went out of your way to comfort us and ensured that we leave the hotel as a happy customer who definitely will return back to the hotel.

Old dilapidated building. In the morning around 7 o clock no pressure on the shower and zero hot water. Try to call the front desk for an explanation, nobody picks up the phone. The airconditioning makes as much noise as a Boeing 747 but hardly cools. Not worth it. Hopefully the Hilton will be ready soon.

Enjoyed a fantastic 4 night stay at this hotel. Really enjoyed the Maharani Tower, front office staff was delightful and very helpful throughout my stay. Staff at Vigour & Verve also made breakfast smooth and enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend!

A hotel with too many rooms. The rooms needs renovated. Too noise. Located in front of the sea with nice view from some rooms. The buffet dinner was excelent and with a very variety to choose. Also the breakfast was good. The staff tries to help the visitors.It is not a real 4 stars hotel because of the old bulding and furnitures.

Lovely location and nice breakfast at the Elangeni BUT the rooms are in desperate need of TLC. No lock on the door, the shower was leaking all over the bathroom floor and the Windows very dirty. But lovely view. Plenty of room for improvement.
