샬리리스 리조트 스파 호텔(Hunguest Saliris)

Had fantastic time in this resort in November. We had a company event where almost 150+ people had gathered together here for a few days and we all had a blast! Great location, perfect scenery from the hotel, and excellent SPA, great food (Hungarian!) and very helpful and patient staff.

Expensive and disappointing. Emailed the day before arrival to say we would be arriving late and would there be any food options available. No reply. Arrived at 9.30pm to be told at reception that the restaurant was closed. We discovered at 10.07pm that room service was available but closed at 10pm. No mention of room service at reception. Thanks guys. On the only upside the breakfast and evening buffet was plentiful, with a good selection and pretty tasty. The rest was a huge disappointment. The design and decor was drab and very dated. For some reason heavy net curtains were drawn in the restaurant blocking out an amazing view. Why? It made this room dark and claustrophobic. In the spar half of the available space was given over to kids (fair enough). In the "adults section" lots of signs saying no children under 12yrs yet there were millions of very young children splashing around making it really annoying. No lifeguards around to enforce the signage. Parking is a farce. Guests have to pay so the whole area is littered with cars as parking outside the hotel is free! I had heard that the locals hate the hotel. It is not difficult to see why. Is it a huge slab of a building carved out of a natural hillside and forest with seemingly no desire to blend in to the natural beauty of the place. As for the salthill, which signs proudly announce can only be found in two other places on earth, well it's stuffed up a corner and dominated by the hotel. Currently sitting in a 45min queue waiting to check out. Bloody farce. Won't be coming back.

Excellent location and variable training venue options for different sized training groups. The name and the location pushes the expectations high, so all mistakes get magnified. Rooms are perfect. Staff: varying quality; waiters: medium, recetption staff: helpful but they communicated like robots; training venue staff: OK. The wellness area was bit of a disappointment: saunas closed too early, otherwise the internal pool area was a bit mediocre.

The hotel and the restaurant are of a good standard, but the spa could do with some renovation here and there. Not all the experience elements work, and some of the covers are missing. Not too bad, but noticeable. Especially compared to ****superior.

Overall the hotel looks very nice and the food is amazing. Rooms and the restaurant area are clean, comfortable. Beside all the above we were also dissatisfied: In the spa area in gentlemen toilets there was a very strong urine smell, which was disgusting. Also due to some ventilation problems there was a constant deep fryer/Schnitzel smell in our hotel room during dinner time. I also dislike the idea of charging extra for sauna usage, it should be included in the package price

The hotel itself is fine but the overall hygiene in the pool and changing room area is more than terrible. People walk in outdoor shoes in the changing rooms, the floor is dirty with dust, hair and nobody cleans it. The showers and toilets are smelly, dirty, it definitely needs celaning staff, which is missing. The pools are fine, especially outdoors. The water aerobic is too noisy, exceeding acceptance levels, it seems to be totally unnecessary and the music is too stupid. It ruins the stay.

A 4 star hotel without enough parking places for guests. At a glance there are barely enough parking places for a single floor out of 5 or 6. Some less parking places are available at cost in front of the hotel. Otherwise we parked on the side of the access road eventually. Not easily accessible for people with disabilities, at least the access from the entrance/rooms to the pool areas was not evident. Sleepers were available only at cost at reception. You can rent a bike for 3000 huf / 2 hours. Leaving these aside, we've enjoyed our stay, but there are some small things that could be improved. Pool's access is from 8.00 AM to 22.00 PM, so in case you would like to take a swim before breakfast (starting at 7.00), no chance. Same is valid for the fitness room. On cleanliness side, the fitness room, was clean, provided with disinfectants and paper napkins. Actually disinfectants were available at any floor including the entrance at pools. In the pools area not all showers worked perfectly and in the afternoon the water seemed dirty. Pool access is permitted from 10.00 to 20.00 also for people outside the resort so pools can get crowded. If you're looking / seeing details even pools area could get more attention in the maintaince part. The interiors seems a bit outdated at least in the bathroom area. We've enjoyed breakfast and dinner (that we're included in the price for the 2 nights) as Hungarian food lovers but we've eaten better in other 4 star locations in Hungary. At dinner, don't expect any other drink than tap water for free.
