'We were pleasantly surprised by our stay at the Valley View Hotel Encumeada and honestly would have preferred spending more days here over some of the other hotels we stayed at on the island. The front desk staff were incredibly accommodating and available around the clock, always ready to help with anything we needed. While the rooms are a bit outdated, they had everything we needed — a spacious bathroom, comfortable beds, and a charming balcony to relax on. The property also offers plenty of parking and is in an ideal location, very central to many of the island’s most popular hikes. The breakfast was average; it was the same offering each day and much of it would be gone early thanks to the hikers, but the coffee machine was great and always hit the spot. Overall, we would definitely recommend adding extra days at this hotel to your itinerary — you won’t regret it. One last detail worth mentioning is how clean the room was, something my girlfriend specifically appreciated. My only small criticism would be the pillows — each side only had one small, fairly uncomfortable pillow, so that could definitely be improved.'

'Ottimo hotel appena sotto Boca de Encumeada (480 mt). Anche il bus ferma nelle vicinanze, ma il personale dà un passaggio, se serve. Gentilissimi Le camere sono grandi, spaziose, pulite e calde. Colazione ottima, nel nostro caso eravamo solo in 5 nell'hotel quindi per ogni extra si poteva chiedere. Ex uova strapazzate, pancetta. Pancakes od altro. Si possono ordinare panini da portare via (packed lunch), state attenti con il pane. Loro scrivono SANDWICH ed è con il nostro pane bauletto. Dite che volete il pan in cassetta fatto in casa. Quello è ottimo. Cena ottima con varie scelte. Prezzi ottimi. Per l'aperitivo c'è un piccolo bar con delle birre artigianali di Madeira. Ottimi. Consiglio vivamente questo albergo! '

'Excellent séjour, hôtel charmant emprunt d’histoire, confortable et au calme dans un cadre luxuriant, emplacement avec vue à côté du jardin botanique et de l’église de Monte. Accueil agréable, chambres spacieuses avec balcon, petit déjeuner complet et assez bon mais qui peut être encore amélioré, dommage wifi inefficace. Route très raide pour y accéder.'

'Great location in the Bay of a small fisherman's village. The view from the breakfast terrace was beautiful. Service was friendly and easy going. Public parking is available around the corner of the hotel (free from 8 pm to 8 am). Rooms and bathrooms are rather small but for us it was sufficient. Rooms are very quiet as windows to the small street are very well isolated. During our stay there was construction ongoing in the Bay (May 2023) which didn't bother us as we had breakfast before it started.'
