Absolutely disappointed. Was really looking forward to this get away with friends but we were disgusted but the cold staff not treating us on arrival .When eating our mains it once did anyone ask if everything was ok. Breakfast I said I don’t drink tea and coffee and was I able to have a juice or hot chocolate and they turned round and said it woukd be a supplement! We already paid over £220 for the stay ! On arrival I mentioned it was my husbands 50 th and the young girl at check in didn’t even wish a happy birthday! On check out we paid for the extras and she didn’t even asked if we had a good stay! We will not be returning and I wouldn’t recommend it at all!

Expected quality food as the venue has a celebrated chef as its owner. The food was average and the staff not very friendly, we didn't bother with the bar after dinner as the experience we had made us feel uncomfortable. The room was well furnished and quirky - but we couldn't open the windows or French doors which made the room really stuffy and hot while trying to sleep - no air conditioning. Drinks were very expensive and the set menu for dinner had to be supported by supplements as did the breakfast. It was like you had a stay at a good price and the hotel was trying to recoup the costs lost through supplement charges on the menus. Won't be staying again - think it was the worst experience for interaction with hotel staff - where the staff should be making sure your experience is the best they can possibly deliver - its as though they didn't want to be there.

Didn't even get to stay here, they didn't honour the ******* booking. I've since read other reviews stating the same or similar going back over a year. Booked through *******, had several confirmation emails, reminders etc. Arrived after a 4 hour journey on a hot day expecting a relaxing weekend which was planned 9 months ago. Hotel was hard to find as no sign on the road entrance then the sign on the building itself said 'House in the woods' Receptionist was chatting to another member of staff (not about work) and begrudgingly looked up but didn't say anything, we had to ask if it was the rudloe arms to which we had a monosyllabic 'yes' Was asked my name for the booking, but she couldn't find it, then was asked if that was my name...I showed her the ******* confirmation email but she said 'there is no record of any booking on the system for you, and the hotel is full so unfortunately we can't check you in' She then said she could see the ******* booking but not the hotel booking (I don't understand that!) She repeatedly said 'We dont have your booking, the hotel is full, there nothing we can do'. No offer of a drink in the bar whilst we try and find another hotel, she was completely unsympathetic and uninterested. So we didn't even stay here but given the staffs rudeness, I'm glad we didn't. Currently staying in the Kings Arms in Melksham, and the staff, facilities, food and drink are all very good!

Stayed for two nights, all the staff were fantastic with great knowledge of local area, room was great, The food was amazing and the the steak on the Friday was the best steak I have ever had, you expect to pay for extras it’s not an all you can eat buffet, I would recommend this hotel and I will be staying at this hotel again.

IGNORE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS!! Stayed last weekend and had an amazing time! I'd booked two nights as a birthday/anniversary gift for husband and from reading the negative reviews after booking was a little apprehensive. I shall never bother reading reviews again... From the moment we arrived we had the best time. Each member of staff was great, and the food was amazing - yes there are surcharges for items such as steak and kippers but lots of great restaurants have surcharges for certain items and side dishes, and my husband said they were the best kippers he'd ever had and that his steak was exquisite! Our room in the main house was very comfortable and the artwork and exhibits throughout really did make this place more than just a hotel. The grounds and location are stunning. Lovely walks to country pubs for a spot of lunch and a bus stop just a short stroll away takes you into Bath cheaply and without the hassle of parking in 30 minutes. All in all, a wonderful weekend!

We love The Rudloe! So much so we have been several times and we always recieve a warm welcome. The different rooms still blow us away and we always spot something we've never seen before. It is fascinating to see the collections in The Rudloe, you can spend hours just looking. The Mouseman furniture throughout is breathtaking, I'm sure lots of people don't realise what they are surrounded by in this building! Then the food, we have always enjoyed every visit. The restaurant has no bright lights and we like that, it's warm and cosy. From breakfast to evening meals, the service, the ambiance, everything is wonderful! The rooms are perfect! There's no sleep like the sleep you get in those beds, comfortable, warm and again look around at the furniture! We can't wait to go back! 🙌

Room excellent food average - main things an extra payment including orange juice for breakfast!! Limited menu and items at 8.00 already sold out!!

The main house was homely and decorated in a unique style. The hotel room that we stayed in needed some TLC as the window blind was broken, there was no hand held shower head on the bath mixer and we had scaffolding outside of our room (no work was undertaken when we were there). The most unexpected element of the stay was the restaurant experience. The food served was average at best, the drinks overpriced (£15 short cocktail) and despite being on a wowcher dinner, bed and breakfast deal you needed to spend on every meal for ‘extras’ such as choosing eggs Benedict (£7) or a full English breakfast (£8) or choosing to have chips or vegetables (£4.5 each) with your evening meal. This was a joke as the food was mediocre at best. For the money spent I would recommend choosing elsewhere. Overall disappointed.

This is a tricky review to write. We visited Rudloe House through a Living Service discount voucher. At £138 per couple for breakfast, dinner & overnight stay this is great value. However: - this is not Michelin Star dining & not even close. The menu was small & not very creative. The food across the 3 courses was ok & enjoyable. Across the 2 couples we described it as unremarkable. - the venue in terms of decoration is however remarkable. Incredible items & glorious photos of film & rock stars. White is obviously a Beatles fan - whilst the voucher price is very good be prepared for high drink prices. - the grounds are worth a stroll though the weather prevented this for us - the rooms in the building across the way were good. Clean, warm & well decorated. - BE PREPARED for the cocktail ‘trap’ which is offered free to get you into the bar early. The cocktail (no choice) was sweet & small; we were not allowed to take them into the lounge. On purchasing a bottle of wine however we were accompanied into one of the lounges which were wonderful. See photos. In summary - whilst carrying MPW’s name this is not a high class venue. Be prepared for a few irritating things as described & sit back & enjoy this quirky & interesting venue. Remember you are on a discount deal & there is a reason why this is the case.
